I've got a slightly off the wall list I want to give a run out if anyone is interested in a vassal game?

Let me know.

Mephiston has now written the batrep for this game. Here (Tau v IG)

I didn't want to comment on the batrep thread so I will do so here.

Firstly thanks to Mephiston for showing me the ropes on vassal and for an enjoyable game.  And although it might not seem so it was actually a challenging army to play against.  I played most of the game in fear that a mistake would cost me dearly.

Mephiston's army tested out an extreme build, and I think this clearly shows that.  Extreme army lists tend to do either really well or really badly depending on how the opponents army can deal with the extreme (in my case some good dice rolls by certain units made that difference).

I've another game v Clausewitz that I need to get written up.

Hena, I agree that the Assura's list needs another run out. How do you think your orc or marine list would do against it?

Yes, I read the Assura v Hena batrep.  Assura's list looks quite nice, I rate recon formations highly, the combination of scout/ML/GM/co-fire and speed gives them many roles.  I do think that a few carefully placed AT shots could cripple the AA in that list though (no AVs to shield the skyrays).  Thunderhawk air assaults might not have any great targets but I would expect the hawks to excel in their gunship role against so many LVs and infantry.

Challenge accepted Mephiston :)

I have some ideas for a Tau list, I'd be happy to try it out.

Just read the report for the second game Tau v Marines.  Thanks again to Mephiston for the game and taking the time to do the write-up.

This was a very cagey game, with both sides utilising a lot of delaying tactics.  Mephiston was worried about where the Terminators would go and I was concerned by the threat of Kroot air assaults.  I imagine that anyone reading the report will be horrified by my tactics with the Space Marines, but I assure you its all in the Codex somewhere...

For anyone wondering if the reduced speed of the Devilfish would make a difference... the answer looks to be yes it does.

In that game I probably went to far into Patient Hunter and became Patient waiter to lose!

Sure I'll get the hang of tau one day, not that I'll be able to buy an army an more  :sigh:

Plenty of good proxies about (DRM springs to mind).

Infantry are fine, maybe even tanks. I haven't seen any good proxies for 'suits yet.

Hmmm, good point.
Maybe there are some 15mm ranges that might work.

Good hunting mate.

Why would you be unable to buy a Tau army Mephiston?
Did something happen to the FW Tau availability?

you could say something like that since FW has the entire line under review and aren't refilling stock. :)

Hmm, well that just sucks doesn't it! :)

I have calculated how much "my" Tau army would cost if I were to buy it several times (as each new version of the list changed exactly what I would need).  I was basically waiting for the list development to settle so that when I bought my army I wouldn't buy stuff that I didn't need/use (or something that gets nerfed in the next list update etc).

This is seriously bad news for the Tau in Epic.
