For months I've been babbling about a Tau Auxilia design that would limit the number of units in any given tournament game involving the Tau while still allowing for a full range of models to be fielded by the Tau.  This is similar to creating a core list and several variant lists, but in actuality it creates three sub-lists: -Armored Cadres -Alien Auxilliaries -Drone Auxilliaries
This is only an outline and readers should not take the point values, formation sizes, and other very specific details as things I draw a hard line on.  The list merely addresses a number of concerns that a wide variety of players have brought up.  In my opinion, the foundation of the list is inherently flawed which sets up everything else that follows for failure.  By limiting the number of unit types available, tournament games will be challenging.  Playtesters will probably have an easier go of things as well.  Opponents will hopefully find the Tau more 'approachable'.  Collectors will hopefully enjoy the fact that all of their favorite models (and even new ones) make it onto the list.  Tau players everywhere will still have flexibility in what kind of army they want.
I based the list on Dobbsy's "Bare Bones" Tau list that I asked him to put together.  I wanted him to strip the Tau list down to what was barely needed, then I packed things back on in a different format.
Transports: Before anyone says anything, I tried mucking around with the transports on the list format wise.  I didn't get around to fixing it and so you'll some odd things having to do with Devilfish and Orcas.  I don't personally have a problem with Tau transports but I was trying to fix the pdf layout to look simpler and ended up making it worse.  I'll fix it if necessary to avoid confusion but I am guessing y'all can muddle through.
Feel free to comment but try to stay on topic please.  There are other threads for details regarding the support craft argument, Morays, armored core formations, etc, and you should link to those instead of clouding this thread.  Also, please actually download the pdf before voting. Thanks!

Two other things:
The download here is Dobbsy's Bare Bones list that he originally sent me. My apologies for the delay in getting it posted but I had real life issues that came up.
I initially thought of adding a 4th Auxilia (splitting the Alien Auxilia into Human and Primitives) but wasn't sure if it would be enough for either. Obviously more IG units could be added but I felt like the Vespids and Kroot would be short changed. Anyway, think about it.

The fact that you had to go down to 5pt text to fit everything onto one page tells me that there are probably too many options / unit types in the list.
I voted 'I like the structure', btw.

I think these different styles of list should be done as seperate lists, rather than a larger all inclusive list.

I'm trying to understand what you're doing here.
The way I read it, I can always take Firewarriors and I can choose to have them supported by those units under the Armoured Cadre, or those units under the Alien Auxilla or those units under the Drone Auxilla.  Correct?
If this is the case, that's three separate lists there in my opinion. Three separate lists that I believe the Tau need. The list should be going in this direction (many separate lists) instead of the all inclusive macro-kernel approach.
We all know that lists are defined by what they lack as much as by what they have. As of right now, the Tau list has way too much.
