Well wine gets the creative juices flowing and I have been thinking along the lines of a Tau "titan legion" (not that I could afford one on my new teaching salary).

I started coming up with this idea when posting in the london experimental day thread.  I thought what would a tau titan legion have.

My thoughts were Manta (there arte three offical versions) and Morays backed up by air caste barracudas and tiger sharks (is it four variants now) and whatever fire caste troops that can fit inside the manata (and possible moray variant) troop transports.

This is no more than a random brain strom, but I though I would let the powers that be know, incase they can make something of it (or use it to make something better).

Here's a post I wrote...

Honestly, take away the 33% War Engines limitation, and the current list allows for most of a Tau AMTL already.

- Manta - Super heavy flyer.
- Moray 1 - Titan-killer
- Moray 2 - Anti-everything else killer.
- Scorpionfish - Anti-infantry murderer.

etc...

... then I stopped and thought, and frankly, from the background info I've read, I'm not sure if the Tau would ever use a Titan Legion type army.

Also, if they kept their Support Craft rule, it'd be a pretty daft game, as potentially every unit in their army (It'd have one or two new Support Craft, doubtless) would ignore all LOF issues and just blast away at the enemy army.

One of the balancing factors of the Imperial AMTL is that quiet often their super-titans struggle to bring their exceptionally powerful weapons into range and LOF with the optimum target types... a Tau AMTL would have no such problem.

Well thge Damocles crusade was stopped when the legios were countered by mantas, and the Typha-IV campaign was opened by a manta led assault on the capital city, so massed mantas isn't unheard of.

Also I left off the Orca and the scorpianfish for a reason.  The Orca is just a large pegasus lander and the scop a weapon platform variant and don't have a place in a legio.  Just like Gorgans and SHT don'treally belong in the AMTL.

With the current rule it is something of a dice rolling and activation targeting exercise. Still you can make a WE list with the current Tau list, just have to take the odd crisis formation.
