Well, as I hope to get some games in with the Tau soon so its time to go through the list. Special rules Tau deflector shields Should it not be 6+ save against AP/AT attacks (in case in the future it goes on a light vehicle - probably an AM test bed ![]() Robitic Drones 'Outside of enemy set up zones'. Does this include within 15cm of an objective as garrisons can of course set up there. Can they cen set in in impassable terrain? Is it possible to simply snip all this text? Robotic sentry units never receive blast markers for any reasons, have no zone of control, and assaults are handled differently ? enemy units engage robotic sentries as normal, with units using their close combat or firefight values. However, units in base contact with a robotic sentry automatically hit the sentry tower, which makes its normal save. Units using their firefight must roll to hit as normal. Robotic sentry units don?t make return attacks, and in addition neither unit is considered engaged in close combat. Further rounds are not fought and the enemy may move off at any time. No assault resolution is made. Let them get blast markers, let them not be an exception to the assault rules. What would be the big deal? Broadsides I thought you couldn't have same name for two different statlines (the railguns). Skorpfish Anyone tried doing lots of these yet? 4 Would present a lot of stand off/AA firepower for any attack. And I thought either was for a choice of two things? ![]() Airpower Barracuda/Tigershark beefs remain. And if they are staying like this you should alter the fluff for the TS as plane for plane with these stats its a far better interceptor than the barra. Hero So if the enemy is marked and has a couple of warengines I could target up to 4 seperate formations? (2 Warengines, 2 other marked formations.) |

I like the Sentry Turrets as they are but I don't think you should be able to take 6 formations of them in a 3000pt game. Probably half that number and they should probably cost more (75 - 100pts for 3? ). Broadsides I thought you couldn't have same name for two different statlines (the railguns). Doesn't worry me. Skorpfish Anyone tried doing lots of these yet? 4 Would ?present a lot of stand off/AA firepower for any attack. And I thought either was for a choice of two things? ![]() I've played using 3 of them with lots of Markerlight Turrets. VERY powerful. Its not just the +1 from being lit up, but the ability to sustain fire from behind cover, up to 75cms away... Lovely! Airpower Barracuda/Tigershark beefs remain. And if they are staying like this you should alter the fluff for the TS as plane for plane with these stats its a far better interceptor than the barra. Not worried about it. I've always played the 2 Pin-point attacks are on the same formation..? |

Tau deflector shields Should it not be 6+ save against AP/AT attacks (in case in the future it goes on a light vehicle Seems sensible enough to me. Robitic Drones 'Outside of enemy set up zones'. Does this include within 15cm of an objective as garrisons can of course set up there. Can they cen set in in impassable terrain? Is it possible to simply snip all this text? They can be set up within garrison distance of objectives, and are set up before any garrisons arrive. This may need to be clarified about garrisons then being set up very close to the drone towers. The intention is that they are unable to be set up in impassable terrain. We started with all of the text gone, and treating them as a normal unit. The issue was that they represented a very cheap activation, without actually doing anything. For the blast markers, there is confusion about how the blast markers affect the towers, since they have no ranged weapons and cant move. It was just decided that it was simpler to take them out of 'player control'. The number available and points cost are still open for debate. I am tempted just to move them to the collectors section, to be honest. Broadsides I thought you couldn't have same name for two different statlines (the railguns). These are Broadside Railguns... totally different! ? ![]() We could change the name if it became a problem. The problem is that the Broadsides and Hammerheads use the same weapons in 40K, but the stats are better different in EA. Skorpfish Anyone tried doing lots of these yet? 4 Would ?present a lot of stand off/AA firepower for any attack. And I thought either was for a choice of two things? I have not found these to be overly powerful. They are 25 points less than a Warhound, slower, less firefight and close combat ability, not fearless, no protective fields, but skimmer instead of walker and upgunned by a bit. Hero So if the enemy is marked and has a couple of warengines I could target up to 4 seperate formations? (2 Warengines, 2 other marked formations.) Yes. Why would there be a restriction on the two pin-point attacks being on the same target? Core rules state: You may target different war engines with each pin-point attack if you wish, or concentrate all of the attacks on a single target. Hope that this clarifies. |

I'm definately not in favour of them moving to the collectors section. If you did, would you improve all missile to-hit numbers to compensate? Scorpionfish, Stingray's (not to mention most of the rest of the army) would be hard to justify using in a tournament style game... You would just see armies of Railguns and Ion Cannons. Markerlight Turrets can be a big part of the Tau army's flavour. I would far rather keep them and pay 100pts for 1 formation of 3 - with a max of 3 formations (or maybe even 2). Thanks for clearing up the Pin-point attacks question aswell, much appreciated. |

Broadsides I thought you couldn't have same name for two different statlines (the railguns). The Hammerhead has ONE Railgun. The Broadside has two Railguns which are twin-linked. |

Certainly the co-ord fire rule 'enhances' the gm trick. SHould it be harder to do? |

I think coordinated fire should simply be removed ; It's a hugely powerful ability in an army that really doesn't need the help. |

Sorry, but I like co-ord fire. It just seems like a really 'Tau' thing to do. While it can be very effective, it is a one shot thing and can backfire as well. |
