Quote (ayoras @ 19 May 2006 (15:56)) | Well.... I had a formation with 4 exocrines (so 4BP disrupt indirect fire). Fire at stingray.... he was well "spaced" (5cm between each stingray) so I was able to touch only 3 models at 3+ rate, so only 2 hits so maximum one death, poor effectiveness for 350 pts formation. | But that's 3 BMs on the Stingray formation, so it should've gotten a lot less shots on anything else.
The Stingrays have ignore cover, so you *can't* hide from them. If they've moved to within 30cm, so they can use their own markerlights, just engage them in a fire fight, especially if they have blast markers, and you should be able to harm them, even if all you have is a tattered swarm to do it with.

And you can't draw LoS through a piece of terrain or more then 10cm into a piece of cover. Even Ignore Cover weapons don't let you ignore the LoF rules, though the Tau can popup to shoot you, depending on the situation. The Tau's guided-missile rules let them ignore the LoF rules, but they still have to have LoF with at least one unit with a markerlight. Also, remember that they can only legally target units inside the range and LoF of that markerlight if they fire guided (Meaning that anything far enough into a piece of terrain or which wound up more then 30cm away from the Drones should have been outside LoF on the missiles).

I really can't help then other than using general tactics. I've never fast tau in epic and last time I fought them in 40K I brought more guns and out shot my opponent!
