@ Steele: What's the deal in the codex 'fluff'/background text regarding the auxilliary races of the Empire? Is there any mention of the ones that aren't Vespid or Kroot(ie Demiurg, Nicassar, Galg)?
Also: Any good?

I know that I am amped up about the new Markerlight rules. Shooting is nasty for the Tau now. Giving a Shas'ui a Markerlight is actually worth it with the tokens now.

@Xisor: no explicit mentioning of other Races. Just that the Kroot and Vespids are the most notable of them. Sidenote: Vespids work very well with Crisis.
There seem to be some new Gear for Battlesuits: Iridium Armour, command Control Module, Ionblaster, Grenade Launcher, Emergency Rescue System, Self-Destruct, Stimuli injector, kind of a new Marker system (called in German Peilmarker) - you may place a reserve unit on board on d6 of 2+, and a Fall Back System for Character Models and solo Models.
Cheers! Steele

Don't forget that some of that gear is also unique. IIRC the Iridum Armour, the Cyclic Ion Blaster, and I think 1 other item are only 1 per army slots.

So what's up with all those new Ethereal chaps and the 'pope-mobile' unit?
Do we see any main fluff guiding changes in the heritage?
How about the other castes besides Ethereal, Fire and Air... do Water and Earth castes make a presence in this codex?
Cheers,

I know the "pope-mobile" is a character, Aun'Va. He's basically the head Ethereal, and was the one to banish/decry Commander Farsight, and promoted his rival Commander Shadowsun in his place.
You can also take an Honor Guard for your Etherel of Elite Firewarriors that have +1BS. I'm not sure if this is different from the Honour Guard that Aun'Va gets, or if it's the same thing.
All the other Ethereals are just resculpts.

Since I will need to wait anohter month (making the UK - the home of GW - one of the last places to get the release!), any specifics on the Sniper Drones? Also, have the Bonded rules changed at all?

I happen to have the pages that show the entry for Sniper Drones and Markerlights from that auction. I can forward the pics on to whoever wants. Just e-mail me at btennant@shaw.ca
I'd type them out here, but I might get spanked for that.

Quote (Breten @ 01 Mar. 2006 (22:00)) | Don't forget that some of that gear is also unique. ?IIRC the Iridum Armour, the Cyclic Ion Blaster, and I think 1 other item are only 1 per army slots. | Yes, these are so called experimental Gear, and are only avaiable at a 0-1 Basis per army.
Sniper Drones: You may have 3 Teams of 1 Controller and 3 Sniperdrones. All models have Camogear ?? improved Targeter, the Controller is equiped with a pulsepistol , the Control module and networked Markerlights. The Drones are equipped with Railrifles and multiple targeter. If I remeber correct the shooting ability is xpressed in ballistic Skill? Then it is 3(4) for the Controller and 2(3) for the Drones. The Value in parenthesis comes from the improved targeters. Save of them all is 4+
Aun'Va is the pope. His correct name/Title is : Aun?o?T?au`Acaya`Va`Denta , he is equipped with the Paradox of Duality. His presence gives all Tau Units (no Kroot or Vespids) in LOS - stubborn ability. If he is slain , again, all Tau units make a moralcheck ,if not in CC or retreat, and gain if succesful - Archenemy?? towards the enemy Army and Raging Attack? Please bear in mind that is a rough translation and I really don?t know whats behind .
@Tactica: If you mean heritage with the banning of Farsight , then yes. Shadowsun assumes in her Brandnew and Shiny XV-22 Battlesuit the former role of Farsight as Heroine of the Tau. At least she shoots better than Farsight. She has WS 4 BS 5 S 4 W(ounds?)3 LP? 3 Ini 4 Attacks 4 Leadership? 10 Save 3+
@CS : Bonding ( Ta`lissera) As long as the Carrier of the Bonding knive is alive , the Team may rally , even if under 50% unit strength. Is that the same/old?
Cheers ! Steele

bonding used to be something that you paid for on the entire unit, sounds like maybe its purchased for a specific model now?
I'm going to like sniper drones.
So tell us a bit about Vespids when you get the chance.

Some people requested stats for Vespids as in the new Codex:
Vespid ( Mal`Kor)
Trooper : 16 Points WS 3 BS 3 S 3 W 4 LP? 1 I 5 A 1 Ld 6 Save 5+
Swarmleader/Queen : 22 Points , same Profile except Ld which is 9
A Unit comprises 3 - 10 Vespids and 1 Leader Type : Jumptroop? Gear : Neutronprojector : Range 12 Inch S 5 Penetration? 3 Type Assault? 1
Special rules : Accelerated Flight? : They have the Special Rule Sprint? as in the Core Rules Section of Special Rules. Born to Fly : They may reroll failed dangerous Terain Tests. And as long as the leader is still alive they benefit from Markerlit targets.
Cheers! Steele

As a sidenote : did you see the new Broadside Model made by Forgeworld? They will have shoulder mounted Plasmaweapons and at each arm 1 Railgun.
Cheers! Steele
