Out of interest if Moray are so good why not have 3?

Or at the very least a Tigershark, hero with missiles and 2?

What, to face my regular guard army? 15 Shadowswords? :)

(edit and 3 formation of Hydra and one extra Hydra for the BTS! - you could swap three shadowswords for an SC if you wanted but it dilutes the purity!)

Question:
do other races have such 'power' lists as well?

I'm not doin the 3 moray list as it was too hard to the the balance of forces right. So i'm taking my normal list. I fully expect to get trounced.

Well, there's Chris's infamous Thunderhawk horde...

13 x Thunderhawk
Landing craft (BTS)

Many lists have 'power' configurations (Though some, such as Imperial Guard, don't really), the problem is that the SG Tau's power list:

- Doesn't look like a Tau army.
- Is irritating to play against (And by Jstr's words, also irritating to play with).

We'll try and do a batrep on Saturday.

I think the Ork gunwagon mob/supazappgun horde could be considered a power configuration

Which cannot win a game because they cannot contest Objectives?

Not strictly true Soren - Transports have to stay landed a turn, so TRCwould need to land many of them in turn two to claim objectives in turn three. Also note, that they can contest objectives in the turn they land - so TRC has the potential option to use this to force a forth turn while continuing to strafe with the remainder of the transports.

Note not all of those thunderhawks are painted though :) But yes it was a lot better when you could land and capture on the same turn!

They aren't really power lists, rather 'extreme' ones. So they have glaring flaws. Its not like say taking 4 warhounds which are excellent all rounders.

The Shadowswords for instance are stuffed verses a horde.

Most have been removed by the recent changes though. For instance Scouts not being able to drop pod. there's nothing like the scout bombardment tm to ruin an opponents day (950 points for 5 formations of scouts and a strike cruiser, each being a 30cm diameter attack and the orbital strike, supported by 4 warhounds and 1050 points of whatever you want - terminators, land speeders, landing craft etc).

Incidentally what was the problem with taking 3 Moray? There's no problem taking 4 warhounds or 3 ferals in lists. Do they not perform in the same way?

Kay, I see. We use a houserule that they neighter contest nor grab objectives in eighter turn. Thought this is the way the official rules were changed to

I was going to take 3 Morays and a SC Scorpion fish purely to show how stupid it is. The problem I had with taking 3 morays is that it cost 900 pts and I can't take aircraft. I like taking 2 morays and a Barracuda squadron. I don't often take land AA as its fragile and easy to negate (but recently i've been thinking nor taking  Skyrays is foolish).
