Oddly, I had thought of that very thing and decided not to post it.

Well, I think the community openly acknowledges your circumspection in delicate matters. I on the other hand...

Wow, Tactica, thanks for the clarity in response appreiciated, it'll be passed on, and no worries nuf said.
The only thing I disagree with is in overall value in playtesting. We have garnered a ton of knowldge from playtesting the way we do it.
Just as an example, this batrep, winning and losing do not really matter, it is the use of CFAs and ML/GMs we are more concerned with.
Over two batreps now, and some other games in between, I have come to the conclusion that the ML/GMs are viable as printed in my full "Way of the Tau" article (Not yet posted). However, I am finding the CFAs not to be as powerful as I had first thought they would be and am looking a little deeper into them.
IMHO this occurs because we always use an impartial judge, and almost always have a few 'observers' all of which are in on exactly what we are playtesting. The AABS (After Action Bull Session) concentrates more on that then game play (why the battle was won or lost). The more eyes on the table the more one will learn because they are impartial. Works for us.

This was my first thought when I decided to do the series of batreps, but I thought, nah let somebody else put there foot in the doggy Do-Do first
For the record, the Revenant Titan doesn't have reinforced armor, so until it's Holofield goes down players here don't use its awesome 5+ armor.
Thanks All for the input

Oh forgot........
Neal: I'm curious as to why your forces were close enough to be decalred intermingled for assaults when you have a 15cm CFA range. To me, it seemed like that was your major error(s). Those were crushing.
|
Gee along with lining myself up in the middle to get aced like I did (and you somehow noticed ), I also thought the sending of the 3rd Warrior Cadre after the Swooping Hawks, twice, wasn't the most brilliant move either That is on hindsight of course.
Truthfully Neal, AFTER, I had set up the center forces in turn one I was rolling my eyes up into my own skull wondering just why I had crowded them when it was obvious I didn't have to. Jack's no fool and of course jumped right on it
Popular excuse around here for making an obvious error of major proportions despite having the grey matter (supposedly) not to, is called a brain fart.
So........Brain Fart it was I tell ya, brain fart.
Neal:Barring that, it looks like you would have dominated. |
Could have might be a better word, Jack is very good in the end game, even when he is down in numbers and combat power.
Thanks Again all

Excellent battle report again Jaldon. I am looking forward to reading the full "Way of the Tau". Since my recent game I have been giving thought to the concept of "focusing firepower forward", I am beginning to see the way (I think). I dont know if you read my battle report, but I'd be glad of some critism.

Jaldon,
on all accounts.
"AABS" - I'm going to have to use this.
Cheers,

Heh. Fair enough. I've done similar things, probably more than my share.
