I'm not taking sides on the issues, but I will state as a person who read this thread just today it came off as a bit hostile.

I agree, passions are higher than all would prefer.

Honda looks like like a pork chop at a dog kennel.  Be nice to the man.

Just back to reading this forum again after a bit of a break.  (who knew grad school would take up so much time)

I have to agree with Moscovian that the tone of this thread is a little tense.  I think most of that is frustration on both sides.

In regards to the Initiative issue, I would prefer to see Crisis as a flat 1+ (or 2+) mostly for the sake of simplicity.  As a player (or opponent) it is better to look at a formation and know its initiative rating than to have to determine what units are still alive.  You should be able to know initiative rating after a quick scan of the table.  It helps with target and activation priority.  Is there another example of a unit having a different initiative rating based on its composition?

I certainly think that Crisis suits have the superior Command and Control aspects that Initiative represent to justify the 1+ stat.

Beyond that a bug fix update to the list would be helpful.  I hope to get a few games in over my break and knowing the correct stats would be a boon.  Honda, if you need an editor, I have the time to help.

Ok, it's a flat 1+ for Crisis initiative. Go play. No excuses.

Will test to see if they're now overpowered. :)

You'll have to pardon my laugh as you now try to determine whether what you receieved was really what you wanted.

I'd strongly suggest you take nothing but Crisis and Skyrays and see what has been wrought. It's the first thing I intend to test.

Yup, a Crisis and Skyray popcorn list definitely needs to be checked out, as does a recon spam list.

Yup, a Crisis and Skyray popcorn list definitely needs to be checked out, as does a recon spam list.

Recon Spam, I can see have potential... but ten extremely fragile formations is *not* a "popcorn" list at 3000 points; sure, it might be hell on an aircraft focused army, but anything else if going to be elminating multiple Tau formations a turn.  If that type of army takes any ugrades, it will degrade even faster!

I look forward to seeing reports using such an army!

I'd like see a list with correct unit stats...

Hena, I plan on starting the editing corrections to the list this weekend. I am not going to rush that just for this change, primarily because I'm not convinced it is going to stick, but we'll see. If you gaming group is so legalistic that they won't accept anything than a published list, I'm sure you can print out this post authorizing you to play with Crisis suits with a 1+ initiative.

Plan B: If the Crisis/Skyray popcorn list ends up breaking the list, the fallback position will be to allow +1 to the Shas'O and Shas'el upgrades.

Note: There are only three options on the table for Crisis

a. All Crisis are 1+ Init
b. Only Shas'O and Shas'el are 1+, all other Crisis 2+
c. Only Shas'O is 1+, all other Crisis 2+

There is no Option d.

In order to KISS, I think option A(1) might be considered; Raise points cost on Crisis formations if nessesary.

If you gaming group is so legalistic that they won't accept anything than a published list,

Honda, it has *nothing* to do with "legalistic" groups, it's got *everything* to do with playtesting the right stuff!

Two examples, brought up during play with Dobbsy last weekend:

1) Do all Pathfinder's weapons have disrupt or not?  The reference sheet says they do, but the Fire Warriors, with the same weapon don't have it... are the Fire Warriors supposed to have two disrupt weapons?

2) Do Hammerheads have Smart Missile Systems?  They certainly used to have them, the datafax has them, but the reference sheet doesn't.  This is a significant secondary weapon and would've radically changed how Dobbsy used them when dealing with Orks in the woods.

The lack or presence of these weapons/rules change how the unit performs, and will result in fairly different play experiences.
