Fearless units can still be broken, and risk not rallying.  If they dont rally then they cant act.  And the Stompa mob did have some non-fearless units in it.

But the point is that 1200 points of Orks in a combined assault would expect to win easily, especially against Tau .  In fact they did not.  Not many Tau formations could have stood up the way the crisis did.

I had a wounded Gargant assault my PF's once. After charge, he could only could FF. I opted not to close. He had 1 unit in range. He rolled FF and killed nothing (or maybe it was one model at most. (remember that phindar i.e. Victor?) :p

Anyway, he rushed me with blast marker laiden gargant to get me off of the object in the end game of the final turn - it was for the win or tie if I recall.

My PF's had no blast markers. He had more DC count i.e. models, but not more than double. With no blast markers, opponent having more than double, and no damage inflicted...

It was all about the dice off.

So we went into combat resolution. He rolled really bad, and I rolled really good. His Gargant lost and broke - and by a large margin - on the last turn. He then lost control of an objective, and gave me control when I consolidated. LOL... I'll never forget that.

An awful lot comes down to the dice off if casualty count isn't that high.

Orks deal the majority of their damage if they can get into base to base. High armor targets should be avoided if FF is the only thing that can be obtained. Better to shoot those with the ZZZZzzzzzzzzap guns if you can't get to base to base... or make the enemy have less models and more blast markers when you go to engage.

Combat is an art. Ork combat is a mad doc's science.

Go PF's... go figure!

Pathfinders I must say are by far my favourite tau formation. Most definatively the best scout unit in the game, I see myself loading up with them at every oportunity - who cares if they are fragile, they seem to do great things!

Yeah you lucky B... :angry:

You almost got it right. ?I entered that fight wining by 1. ?Not a huge margin ?but I did expect to win the actual fight.

I think I was fighting some kroot (looked like chicken to me :P ) and they staid as faraway as posible from the fight.

The result, ?I just killed one!

Then ?:evil: dice :angry: ?failed on me.
*shrugs* ?:down:

I charged that way because I had to break you but stay close to the objective. ? I might have killed 1 or 2 with my Zzzaps but I needed to break you to keep the objective and shooting wouldn't have been enough.

Yeah well - its been awhile, so couldn't recall the details from the archives... I just remember the look on your face when your gargant charged 'tau stuff' and due to FF, couldn't pull it out due to dice.

LOL - that was classic. (whether was chickens or PFs - it was just too funny to see the dice work out that way - first, so bad for you, then so good for me!) :)

Sounds like Cw and Dobbsy were discussing basically the same thing that Heckler encountered with his crisis vs. the Ork mob in this bat rep.
