Is any more work on the AMTL list in the pipeline, or has it pretty much grinded to a halt? I, for myself, have played with the list a bit, and had a few suggestions, so was wondering what were things up to...? Someone still alive? |

There's lots of talk, but the army champion only posts about once every six months. |

He used to be quite active- what happened? Exams? Or got worn out with the way that playtesting was going nowhere a year ago (when I last posted regularly? Cheers James |

A friend of a friend of mine told me that he entered a chrysalis, and emerged as some sort of man-butterfly (or, as other rumors have it, a man-moth), and he's doing translation work for the CIA now. You know, because they have to talk to all of those bugs? |

I had some suggestions for the new list, here is my post: http://www.tacticalwargames.net/cgi-bin....y188003 As we already have a Knight list (which needs further testing) I wanted the AMTL list without Knights and tanks replacing them, so more shooty style instead of melee. |

I disagree 100% with having separate Knight list. In ideal world we would come up with balalnced plytested lists for loads of different armies that would be officially backed by SG and universally accepted. These lists would include: 1) AM Tech Guard List 2) AMTL Titans List 3) Knights List However how many balanced playtested officially backed lists are going to get posted on SG website and freely used in tuornaments? I suspect less than before. In which case the priority would have to be getting official lists for Nids, Chaos, Tau & Necrons. Maybe some variant lists for IG & SM. I reckon we would be lucky if we could get ONE AMTL list as officially approved. In which case we need a list that can cope with Titans with variant weapon combinations from the E:A rulebook, stats for Knights & Ordinatus. Why bother pushing for more tanks in the AMTL list? Tanks will feature in the IG Armoured Company list- if someone wants stats for his LR variants he can look in there. If we dont put stats for Knights, Barons, Lancers, Errants, Castellans etc in AMTL list then they will probably never see the light of day in official SG approved list. So my personal view, Knights in, tanks out!! Cheers James |

However how many balanced playtested officially backed lists are going to get posted on SG website and freely used in tuornaments?... I reckon we would be lucky if we could get ONE AMTL list as officially approved. SG made it clear that they will not "officialize" an army without the bulk of the minis available. It took months of hemming and hawing just to get L&D released because of the daemon engines. There's no way that will happen for the AMTL list in its current incarnation. In short, the arguments are exactly the opposite of this. Including knights and ordinati are a sure way to absolutely trash any possibility of the list ever being official. If you want to entertain any hope at all, they must be removed from the list. Even then, chances are slim. Whether you think it's worth pursuing or whether you think we should give up and go fan-list-only, the practical thing to do is split off knights and ordinati from the AMTL list. |

No offense to Neal, but counting on SG to do anything is anything but practical. IMO the best bet is to develop the AMTL list first as the community wants, then IF somebody wants to make a Knight specific variant list, do that second. As for tournaments, you may be better off trying to change the organizer's minds than get SG to change theirs, and that can come with creating a well balanced list (or a list that loses more than it wins ![]() (Sorry if I sound bitter - it was meant to be realistic). |

Last time it was polled, I seem to recall that the majority favored split lists. In any case, I was replying to WI who definitely said he would favor split lists. |

Sorry if that came out wrong, Neal. It wasn't meant to be slamming you, just SG. I also think people put way too much emphasis on being "in the vault". There may have been a time when that mattered, but no longer. And as for the lists, I think there are enough people out there who still like the integrated knights and titans. In other words, if you want the AMTL 2.1 then make/revise your fan list and roll with it. Somebody else who wants it broken down into more specific lists will do just that. I like the idea of breaking off the lists AND having a fully integrated AMTL list. ![]() |
