hi, this came up in a 3000pt game last week, my mate decided to take a warlord with 2 inferno cannons and a carapce landing pad,

this gives the inferno cannons indirect fire!

is this how its meant to work.. ???

You strap fuel tanks to the land speeder spotter.

Aye but at least s'more expensive there. :)

Fluffwise, I could see some justifications for indirect inferno cannons (Some kind of canister discharger), although not many. :D

Oh man, here we go again...

Do you people not know what the various weapons are?  Now, call me crazy (go ahead, everybody else does) but don't you think that:

Inferno = fire, Cannon = big gun   =>   Giant Flamethrower

While the movie Aliens had a neat flamer-like weapon, that is not how all flame projecting weapons work.  Find some pictures of US flame thower Sherman tanks used in the Pacific islands.  You'll notice that it is squirting a stream of napalm/flamable liquid that is on fire.  Once that stream gets to its landing point it then spreads into an area of effect.

You know, kinda like a barrage template in Epic...

Back to the flame tanks.  So if you know that a squad of very deserving Japanese Imperial Army troops is on the other side of a group of trees, and Billy-Bob is pointing and yelling "They're 50 yards away over there," you could elevate the barrel and squirt your flaming drink-o-death about where you have been told where they are.

You know, kinda like how a carapace landing pad, with its abstracted into invisibility land speeder scout, would allow you to fire Inferno Cannons indirectly...

<<< === >>>

Seriously, what's the big deal?  You gave up a weapon slot on a 650 point (or more) war engine and now you can fire two Inferno Cannons indirectly.  Did you expect less?

:D  Just try to ignore all the bad news about GW and concentrate on how good of a game Epic is.
