Wonder if might get a model at some point if Aeronautica Imperialis sells well (I have no clue how popular the game is). Apparently there'll be gunship, bomber or transport variants.

I don't know it's worth adding officially to the lists but they could make good Admech flyer proxies using the existing stats.

Looks might fragile to me, more like a model from AoS than 40k.

Well it is presumably an ornithopter and flying by flapping those wings, so they need to be fairly thin and light for that to be feasible.

Transport capacity looks light too :/

Looks like it can support a 5-man squad of Electropriests or Ruststalkers?

Maybe treat it like storm troopers & valkyries- as transport for a ruststalker formation and a way of getting dedicated assault troops into position.

Weird. dunno what to think of that.

It wouldn't last 5 seconds against pretty much any other flyer in that universe as a combat unit, ok as a armed civvy transport I suppose.

Back to the drawing board.

Yeah, I know they’re calling this a “flyer” but in Epic terms I’m definitely seeing a 30-35 move skimmer. I understand their desire for multiple-build models, but I’d say skip the “bomber” variant... not even sure the “gunship” will be worth it either.

I remember building these as House Atreides in "Dune 2: Battle for Arrakis". =-P

I was about to say, I love the Dune feel to these!

As far as Skimmer vs Aircraft/Flyer goes, was it Dune, or Moorcock’s Hawkmoon books where ornithopters used flapping wings for landing and take off, but locked the wings in place and used thrusters for fast flight? I note the Archeopters have whacking great variable thrusters on the sides...

Yeah certainly skimmer. Honestly it's a light vulture/ valk so whatever.

I've gotten back into Dune RPGing so actually I wouldn't be opposed to using it as an ornithopter.

I'm keen on it. I think it looks cool. I'll definently try and add it into the explorator list. I'm liking the idea of a skimmer transport for the elite infantry. I'll put up a poll when the stats are released for what people would like.

Knowing the admech rules it'll have something insane like a void shield or something ;D

It's not an Ornithopter, but a agile interceptor apparently.
The wings don't flap (it's a jet) but the struts flex and extend to change the shape of the ultra-hard carbon fabric wings in order to maneuverer more like a living creature than a plane.

Still looks like a helicopter than flaps, but that's Jes Goodwin's description of what the Archaeopter does, from the Voxcast that came out at the same time.

The bombs are fancy ones that cause tremors and disrupt movement rather than being high explosives, there's also an upgrade to shut down aura abilities, as the aircraft can have some kind of neural jamming ability.

It's an odd bird, but could be an interceptor and/or bomber that focuses more on disrupt than damage
