Odd that the nice shields don't seem to be on the actual models. We should be seeing the actual models tomorrow at last, at the WW re-opening.

There's definitely some nice stuff with the model, but the lines are just broken up too much by all the plates. I'd probably leave off the shields and the plates on the arm mounts if I ever put one together.

It's a close copy of one of the uglier old metal alternate heads for the Warlord, shame they did that one.



Rules:



They've increased it's relative toughness compared to the other titans now. It's got the equivalent of 10DC in epic.

Do you think they actively went out of their way to typeset that title as awfully as possible?
Looks like Trajan that has been horizontally shrunk by ~60% (why the hell would you artificially condense trajan?), then had kerning deliberately disabled (why the hell would you do this, kerning is on for the rest of the text), then didn't give the caps any extra tracking, and then, THEN, used fake (application generated) small capitals for TRAJAN (or trajan like typeface) which comes by default with proper small caps mapped onto the lowercase letters.

it's actually impressive at this point, you'd have to deliberately do so many things wrong to get there …

*edit: i don't think those are even fake small caps, they might just have literally used the same capitals at a smaller point size.

Well, seeing the entire model now, I take back my comments. It looks pretty awesome, though I'm not quite sure about that knee in the first photo. It seems a bit like it broke compared to the solidity of the left one. Can't say how long it would take me to paint one of those these days but having an epic scale one would be cool.

I mostly like it, but less so than I did on seeing the Reaver and Warhound. Maybe it'll grow on me.

I notice it looks like it has 8 void shields now too.

I'll add a last few few other shots for anyone here not looking elsewhere:




Note the rear facing (long-barrelled?) twin lascannons. I guess it makes sense for it to have some defence to it's rear in-case something gets behind it. Edited to add: actually, I guess these are probably the modern envisaging of Carapace Multi-lasers.



I notice it's rules require it's carapace weapons to be a pair of the same weapon. Wonder why they did that?

I couldn't see if they actually gave it 8 VS or if it was the mounts on top though. I think they oversegmented the plates of armor just a bit. The part that bothers me the most is the back of the lower leg where that extra piece of armor wraps and looks awkward.

The Reaver and Warhound have one of those little generator things on the model per void shield, so it's probable they've kept that for the Warlord too.


The first 40k titans matched the epic stats for survivability but they haven't all (the Phantom has the equivalent of 8DC).

Dunno, but it's possible. The partial stats I saw gave it AV15 front/side and 30 HP with a 5+ inv save. The part with the VS got cut off though.
