![]() The Krios Battle Tank is a vehicle of arcane and ancient design that fulfils a tactical role within Mechanicum armies similar to that of the Predator tank more widely used by other forces of the Imperium. Its durability is provided by interlocking defensive energy fields, rather than physical armour, lending it a deceptively skeletal appearance. The most common armament mounted upon the Krios is the lightning cannon. This configuration takes advantage of the tank’s powerful on- board reactor’s vast energy capacity to create a laser-path guided electromagnetic beam, able to vaporise flesh and rupture heavy armour with ease. |

Weird is the name of the game with the Adeptus Mechanicus. Just check out some of the mind boggling stuff drawn in the Rogue Trader book. This is a good feel for them. Much better than just Red painted Imperial Guard stuff. Considering it doesn't suck I assume this is FW stuff upcoming for the HH book 3? I like it! ![]() |

Ye olde steampunk self-propelled gun... looks cool, and they've explained the lack of armor, but I'm surprised the FW guys called it a battle tank. |

Looks to me like something a 40k Skaven would invent. |

I was looking at this earlier today and I'm not sure what to make of it. As some kind of self propelled howitzer it's kind of cool, but as a vehicle that fills the role of a Predator this thing is hopelessly compromised. It looks like there is either a servitor or tech priest at the rear but it's hard to see in the pics. Placing the him at the rear center and then allowing the cannon to pivot vertically pretty much kills any visibility for maneuvering not to mention that a fixed forward cannon ensures that the vehicle has to turn directly toward a target to engage, which makes it extremely difficult to maneuver toward an objective and engage flanking targets. I kind of like the tracks, but they need to get rid of that giant, useless wheel on there. It just screams they needed to fill a blank spot but didn't bother working out a more interesting or functional solution. Last of all the muzzle makes little sense to me. It's an energy weapon from all indications, yet it has that funky old school muzzle GW usually reserves for things like Heavy Stubbers. It's just at complete odds with the rest of the lines on the model. |

It just screams they needed to fill a blank spot but didn't bother working out a more interesting or functional solution. That in particular; I like the weirdness of the beastie, and could get over the sighting problems on the presumption that the driver/gunner/commander/plug-and-play-ad-mech-type has a dozen servo-skulls hovering around the place doing the 'seeing' for him. But that wheel stuck there is careless. Hopefully it's not an integral part of the beastie and can be eliminated. |
