Some of the discussion at the end of the fixing the rocket reaver thread got me thinking that we've spent considerable effort in discussing what stats are balanced and what stats are accurate and the like but we've spent very little time talking about how much FUN the AdMech lists are to play.

So, I want to hear your thoughts on it.

Which of the AdMech lists are fun to play, if any?

What makes them fun to play?

How would you change the lists to be more fun?

What makes playing AdMech fun? Titans! And Ordinatus Majoris!

I typically play v1.13. I like the variety it provides and it's a good match for what I think the AdMech should be.

That's back with AMTL 3.16 territory. Back when superheavys and russ companies were part of the main skitarii list, right?

Have you given the skitarii list a go in 3.2? I'm also curious what your list is under 1.13 might be possible still play it.

I really like the AMTL list! Thats my main list to this day!

I've also started building up my Skitarii list and have played 2 2K games with it. With the addition of Avenger the list became way more fun to play and i think i will like it alot once i get the hang of it.

When you guys started talking about a tank based list i was very happy! I kinda decided to focus my army building on the 4 different armylista ( AMTL, Skitarii, Knights and Cataprachi) and actually sell of some other forces that will never be used ( Orks, Eldar and SM).

I really like the AdMech and i think a AV/WE list would be awesome! The only thing i'm hoping for is that we dare to include some cool and maybe somewhat whacky WE:s just to make the list interesting.
For example, the talk about a planetfalling citadel-ish structure sounded really cool!

3.17 actually. Super heavies are an option, but not as companies. Russes are available, but as cataphracts of 6.

I haven't tried 3.2 or any version of Skitarii past 2.0. Too many changes were made that I didn't like so I
decided to stick with the version I like best. What do you mean by "what my list is under 1.13?"

However, I wouldn't put too much weight into my opinion on the current state of Skitarii. I really have no interest in playing the current version and my Epic group has talked about writing our own Skitarii list.

I like Titans and exotic, over-engineered weapons.

An AdMech list should feel like a steam locomotive unfurling legs, extruding gunbarrels and skittering madly into the face of the superior numbers of the enemy, accompanied by screaming cybernetic berserkers.

It should not feel like Imperial Guard with slightly fancier tanks.

AdMech should bring superior equipment, and their armies should be balanced by numerical inferiority (ie, higher point costs). They bring the best (and craziest) technology the grimdark future humanity can create, just like the space marines bring the best soldiers available to humanity. The army list should give that impression.

Ah, now I understand your question. Thanks for the clarification. Typically I field a company of Skitarii, a cataphract of Russes, a detachment of Hydras, some Praetorians, a Reaver or a pair of Warhounds and then I mix up the rest.

Ok, cool. depending on what the part is you mix up in there, I think you might be able to do a list very close to what you are currently fielding. No hydra detachments but depending on how the cataphractii list shapes up you might have points for a reaver and russ cohort allies.

If you haven't recently, it might be worth it to give the current skitarii list and the cataphractii brainstorming thread a look over. You might be surprised if you try putting together your army from it. (well, as soon as the cataprhactii list is far enough along to link in as allies for skitarii).

i reckon the russes and collosos robot formations play similarly too.

I'll have to play a few more games to really get to grips with the skitarri, but I wouldn't say they were unfun to play with.

As my first game was battletech it is only natural that I like titans. I like to play with AMTL because it is fun to field few but tough war machines. And what is a game of 10k on imperial Side without titans? I love the picture with my titans wandering along russes and many soldiers.
