Didn't the Warhound Titan's critical get changed to make it worse? There was a great deal of discussion and polls a few years back and the majority was behind making it being made worse so I thought this had been done.

After playing today I checked the current ATML list and the tournament pack and it's the original critical in both. What gives? It was recognised there was a balance problem (the Epic-UK altered their lists to have stagger plus an extra point of damage years ago).

It should be the same as the EUK one.

I'd assume it changed it back to the original critical, about the time it went from being an Approved list to back In Development.

Hey Glyn, if the critical changed it was a copy paste error. This is what the AMTL list has for the warhound crit currently:

The Warhound staggers d6cm in a random direction. If the Titan contacts impassable terrain or another unit it cannot step over, then it stops and takes a point of damage. Any units stumbled into or over take a hit on a 6+.

IIRC the change took out the conditional for the extra point of damage. I'll get it fixed in the next release.

Change to:

The Warhound staggers d6cm in a random direction and takes a point of damage. Any units stumbled into or over take a hit on a 6+.

Interestingly enough, in a game last week a Warhound staggered into an impassable cliff face. Given we were playing EpicUK lists, this means it was destroyed :)

Good to see the always takes a point of damage critical.

However it's been two years since the discussion and the overall movement for a change and you still haven't submitted a revised version of the ATML including this significant change and got the critical changed for the allied TL sections of the tournament pack and compendium? Really not good going there Vaaish!

I've posted up on the Tournament Pack and Compendium threads mentioning what the critical should be to get changed across all the many lists next update, it's a pity this didn't get changed at the time as many, many, dozens of games around the world will have been played with the old version unnecessarily over the last couple of years (my games included).

No need to get excited. The warhound crit change predates me and wasn't in the army list files that Ben sent me back in January of 2012 (I just checked the email and the attachment). I assumed that was the latest version of the list when I converted things over to the current format for the last release and I guess the updated crit just got lost somewhere in the transition.

It's a good catch and I've got it fixed now. As soon as I hear back about the possibility of global titan weapons changes I'll see about putting out the updated list.

Hopefully the global change will be approved without issue, the lengthy discussions, debates and polls took place with the intention of changing it and when the community was polled 62% were behind making the Warhound critical worse.

Epic-UK have been using the 1DC critical on ALL their imperial and chaos 3DC scout titans for over two years now, so it has been tested in easily 200-300+ on record games, plus many more practice games.

In May 2011 Ben said he was going to adopt the 1DC critical as per Epic-UK, however unfortunately this must have been lost in the change over to you.

Regardless, it will get updated in the list soon. I didn't see a full worded version from epic UK though, so I'm unsure if they keep the damage to units the titan hits as it stumbles around. I think it's kind of fun and fitting myself but if it's not there I'll take it out.

They keep it, to copy and paste this is the wording they use:

"Critical Hit Effect: Staggering blow, the Warhound immediately staggers a full D6cm in a random direction (move as ‘barge’ see 3.3.1, ignore ZOC, all units count as part of target formation) and takes an additional point of damage. If this move takes the Feral into impassable terrain or another unit it can’t move over then it stops immediately and is destroyed. Any units moved over or contacted take a hit on a D6 roll of 6."

Thanks for sorting this out GlynG :)
Guess I will be fighting the old rules for another year as it didn't make it into the compendium...:(

The army champions of the relevant races effected would be behind the 1DC change too; Steve and Rug are both Epic-UK players so are used to playing it that way already. Fixing the Warhound came up during the big SM discussion and revision around 2012 and options for fixing the Warhound was discussed but it was left as is on the understanding the worse critical was being adopted and this would be enough.

Given the importance and widespread effect perhaps Dave might consider doing a quick update of the tournament pack to update the titans but nothing else.

The Tournament Pack got updated recently but the Compendium hasn't been since last year and it's meant to be getting an update before the end of the year.
