Since there doesn't appear to be any necessary paperwork for appointing a sub-ac, I dub thee Sir Car... well, maybe not... but I'd like everyone to welcome Carlos as the Knightworld Sub-AC. I wish him luck in his endeavours and I believe he will be able to pick up where Morgan has left off with the knightworld list.

Thanks all. Might do a little test game on Monday featuring *gasp* 5+ RA on the main knights w/ a situational knight shield and rules that help them perform more gallant actions on the battlefield. If it works out I'll come back with those amends as a proposal.

Good luck Carlos, I'll hope to get some games in next year when I move closer to some other epic gamers. Do you see much change required of the 1.3 list?

I'll start by making them crappier, then raising as adequate. Errants and Paladins will be the main knights, especially, the latter, in a similar power level w/ the errants being v/ specialized as per Titanicus. Lancer will have an entire new role closer to a formation of landspeeders than just a fast knight who excels at firefight and has no drawbacks. Paladin, Errant and Baron will all move 25cm to allow mixed formations. Lancer will move 30 and be by himself w/ his peers. The heavy knights will move 15cm and have specific roles: mini-SHT for the crustellans; specialized weaponry (AA, Indirect BP, long-range battlecannon) for the wardens. I'm also thinking of upping the sentinel's speed to 25cm in this list, otherwise they will never be taken since they slow the army down and bring an AP target. Shock lances are gone as I don't want a DC1 WE which costs 100 points to have 3 attacks which is mental. Otherwise, similar. I'm fairly excited about the Baron's description of having customized weapons and I think I can treat them as a mini-warhound of sorts that can have different weapon configs to allow players to use more diverse models.

As mentioned, I'll do some preliminary testing first before posting and then hopefully others can test.

IIRC shock lances are a pretty good chunk of the background. Do you see reintroducing them in a different manner?

You do remember correctly; it was a big part of the fluff. To me the shock lance is an iconic feature of Knights. I really don't like having it removed, to the point that I would be less likely to play the list.

Originally they meant doubling the CAF when charging. How that becomes a First Strike Firefight I'm not sure. Can't it just be part of the knight's fairly good firefight value? I'm keeping the power lances on lancers and barons as normal.

I think that removing the shock lance entirely and just grouping it into the FF value is a bit too generic. I understand the concern about having too many attacks, but I think the shock lance needs to stay in some form rather than disappear into the firefight value. How it should work I think would be a good discussion :)

It sits in a strange place as an E:A weapon. Back when knights were introduced it was meant to represent an electrical charge delivered by the knights when they charge. Now, we know that in E:A there's no 'charging' or 'being charged' and instead things charge simultaneously. So in this case it'd be effective in all engagement situations whether the knights engaged or not. I'm tempted to just call it: shock lance (15cm)(small arms). If you consider knights don't have the sort of dakka that contributes to a good FF value (heavy bolters, twin shuriken cannons, flamer weapons, etc) then perhaps the shock lance is the reason that knights get a decent FF value. Open to other opinions, however calling it (15cm) +1EA, First Strike is rubbish and it's too close to what the power lance is supposed to represent.

What about just giving it first strike or disrupt on a charge move? EA does differentiate between charge moves and counter-charge moves which could confine it to only when the knights attack. Another possibility would be to only activate it when the formation successfully passes a test for an engagement action.

couldn't find any precedent on the compendium. I think disrupt doesn't really work for assaults. Perhaps something along these lines:
Shock Lance
If a formation that includes units equipped with shock lances activates with an engage action, then the formation's shock lances gain first strike until the end of the assault.

And then I give the relevant units shock lance (15cm)(small arms). It will be a minor thing and won't add an extra attack. I like it!
