I apologize for the lack of updates, but there have been some ongoing discussions in the background in an attempt to get EC something he can use for the supplement that I had expected to resolve much sooner than this. Unfortunately, it seems that EC would rather see no supplement than accept the two minimum requirements I have. However, I don't want to see the last month or so of Ginger's time be wasted so I'm going to go ahead and post what should have resulted in EC's admech supplement being completed for the community to discuss. I've tried to incorporate most of the changes that we had discussed up until the discussions fell apart. (not all were agreed upon, but we can start here at least)

The G draft is to be untouched in terms of organization, formations, and units. A player may choose to use the defenses section instead of the regular allies section of the G Draft list.

Skitarii Defensive forces:-
Forces may be chosen from this section or the Skitarii Allies section, NOT BOTH.

Defensive position
60cm of walls - cost 50 points
0-2 per two 60cm of wall, Defense tower - 100 points + weapon cost
Each 'Defense' Tower must replace an objective where possible.

Titan allies (up to 33% of the army total)
Warlord
Reaver
Warhound pair
Warhound
(all at the standard IG definitions and costs)

Defense Tower
Type, Speed, Armour, CC, FF
WE . . 0cm . . . . . . 4+ -- 5+

Weapon
May select from the following list:
- Hellstorm Cannon Tower - 100pts
- Planetary Defence Laser Tower - 150pts
- Plasma Annihilator Tower - 200pts

Notes
DC4, RA, Fearless
Critical: Tower is destroyed
The Defense tower must replace an Objective in the players half if one is available.

*we still need to determine how units interact for capturing them etc*

Thanks for this Vaaish, though we still need to resolve some details (see my last PM)

For the wider forum, the intention here is to provide a "defence section" that contains basically Walls, Towers mounting a choice of weaponry, and restricted titans (the 'standard' IG types and costs), which together represent the defences of some form of significant installation that the AdMech are defending. All the usual AdMech forces are available except mobile armour.

Adding this "Defence section" to the list means that we can continue to develop the 'purist' Skitarii theme, units and formations along side a more 'defensive' theme that Ben and others had in mind.

Please note that this approach is still being worked on, so your comments at any level on what is presented above would be very welcome.

Cheers

I'll comment with this in mind, as I doubt I'll ever get round to a Skitarii army.

My first thought was 'Are those Emperor titan weapons?' which they are, followed closely by 'these replace objectives?!' at 2-300 points... and can start the game on overwatch... Wow!

Ok, they are slaves to your opponent's decisions for objective placement but seriously that is a lot of firepower. I'm not strictly against it as from the various books I've read these kind of defenses aren't unlikely when attacking anything as big as a hive but it's a bit much to take in for a casual game.

I've used the Imperator recently in a 5k game AMTL vs the Gargant Bigmob so I have at least used these guns, their main downside atm is that they're mounted on a big slow & BTS titan. Having them as slightly expendable & relatively cheap objective guards just seems OTT to me.

Meh, you might be right, but they're only slightly tougher thn an Imperial Guard Super Heavy Tank, much easier to assault and immobile (and you have to buy some walls you might not otherwise want). The oponant can also control where they're placed to a large extent with eir objective placement.

For what its worth, I envisage the new section permitting the Skitarii to defend something like this "Hunting lodge" created by Lylekelm in the "Imperial Hunters" thread.

The dimensions of this model are as follows

The art board it is mounted on is 40cm x 50 cm. The circumfrance of the inner compound is 95 cm. The outer compound is 116 cm and the collapsed section of the outer compound is 30cm.

And Mike is correct in his perspective on replacing objectives with these units. While these 'objectives' are apparently very strong, there are a number of mitigations which make them less extreme, not least that they only mount one of the Titan weapons rather than the multiples found on the Emperor and Warmonger titans. In practice these weapons are roughly on a par with the Volcano cannon off a Shadowsword.
