knights - versatility and autonomy

I want the knights to be a list that can stand alone and provide good games even when fielded by themselves.
For that to happen they need the kind of versatility that can be found in tank legion lists where the chimera Russ and sht hulls come w/ various guns.
IMO the 3 basic knights are okay but I think the heavier knights could have more weapons:
- baron specifically mentioned in fluff as having lots of customisation, I think giving him some other cc weapon options is the .minimum
- warden to carry support weapons that do what reg knights can't
- crusaders and castellans to have other lite titan weapon options besides the quake

Doing this would open up modelling options and use of other models. Let's face it, the gw knight range is very limited and old.
