Hello all, i have returned after a long wait since the raiders supplement was finished, with necrons at a nice and stable playable race in epic i took a look around at other armies here to help playtest, and i do like the titan models as i have a few conversion idea's.

so ive decided i want to field a battle-group of 3 warlord titans, im not fussed as to its playability as im aiming for a fluffy army. i had to really try and restrict myself from taking the same weapon 4 times on each titan for balance and modeling reasons despite its effectiveness.

now after doing a little digging around and looking at alot of pics and fluff ive decided i will infact paint them in the war griffons colour scheme when i get the cash to buy them, this way i can help with pics aswell as playtesting.

Heres my list i am looking at using, still a little skeptical to the all volcano cannon but really its my only option for nuking war engines for its cost.

Warlord Titan - 725
Legate - 50
Sacred Icon - 50
Carapace Multi-Laser's - 25
2 x Arm Mounted Plasma Destructors - 150
2 x Carapace Mounted Plasma Cannon's - 50                               = 1050

Warlord Titan - 725
Veteran Princeps - 25
Sacred Icon - 50
Carapace Multi-Laser's - 25
2 x Arm Mounted Volcano Cannon's - 100
2 x Carapace Mounted Volcano Cannon's - 100                            = 1025

Warlord Titan - 725
Veteran Princeps - 25
Sacred Icon - 50
Carapace Multi-Laser's - 25
2 x Arm Mounted Gatling Blaster's - 50
2 x Carapace Mounted Apocalypse Rocket Launcher's - 50        = 925

Total = 3000pts

what do you all think?

also as i haven't been following this list development for that long im interested to know if there is anything in particular i should be aiming to playtest in regards to my list?

seconded. i would lose the volcano lord fro a pack of warhounds and some sentenels or thunderbolts. The list sorely needs more activations and units that can simply be used to hold ground the titans cant

Agreed. For a 3000 point army I usually try to get 6-7 activations.

after some thought ive decided i'd swap warlords for reavers, this way i still have my battlegroup of 3 titans. the difference is i decided to arm them the same.

with the left over points i think i'd try 2 formations of forge knights, they look promising being able to charge and break formations before they act, also can use them to beat up tough units like RA tanks and titans.i can also use the veteran princeps to declare a commander charge with the 2 formations on something really tough like an enemy warlord to down it outright.

these 2 formations should make up for the lack of sheer power the warlords brang but give me tough units i can clear out objectives with and then hold them while the titans pound away advancing towards a set objective.

heres the list mark 2 :p

Reaver Titan - 575
Veteran Princeps - 25
Carapace Multi-Lasers - 25
Carapace Mounted Quake Cannon - 75
Arm Mounted Gatling Cannon - 25
Arm Mounted Plasma Cannon - 25                       = 750

Reaver Titan - 575
Carapace Multi-Lasers - 25
Carapace Mounted Quake Cannon - 75
Arm Mounted Gatling Cannon - 25
Arm Mounted Plasma Cannon - 25                       = 725

Reaver Titan - 575
Carapace Multi-Lasers - 25
Carapace Mounted Quake Cannon - 75
Arm Mounted Gatling Cannon - 25
Arm Mounted Plasma Cannon - 25                       = 725

6 Forge Knights - 400                                               = 400

6 Forge Knights - 400                                               = 400

Total = 3000

ps. i like the missile launchers on the GW reaver model so will be using them as "quake missile launchers"

how do you think this would do now?

This is a lot better!

Are you going to convert the Forge Knights or use Paladins (or any others) as counts as? If it's the former I'd like to see how you'll do it!

You could also try swapping one set of knights for a Skitarii demicentury and Sentinels for an extra activation. That would require you to take the Corvus pod on one reaver though.

actually i looked at some scale pics of the old knights, those things are way too big to be an "armoued vehicle" so im thinking of converting some epic eldar wraithlords up, the conveniently come in packs of 6 :p

they may be a little smaller than i would like but i cant find a better tournament legal option that isnt space marine height, so im happy with their size, not too bad at $28 Australian a pack. just need cash now....

Good choice with the Forge knights - those guys are freakin' great!

Last game as AMTL I chewed up formation after formation of my opponents orks with a single formation of knights. Just charge up to 40cm, cream someone, consolidate towards the next target, rinse, repeat. :)
