Hi, Flogus and I played a battle of Legion vs. Legion (Titan vs. Steel) about 3 weeks ago. I don't really have time to translate the battle report I made on epic_fr, but here's a LINK to it and a LINK to the topic in the Battle Reports section of TC. Plenty of pictures for those who don't understand French. Rules: Epic Armageddon Handbook 2008 Steel Legion: Handbook 2008 AMTL: WarGryphons 3.12 Imperial Guard Leman Russ Company* + Hydra Shadowsword Company* Baneblade Company* Baneblade Company* Shadowsword* Shadowsword* Basiliks Thunderbolts *: Commissars ![]() AMTL Imperator - Supreme Commander Warlord - Volcano canon, Triple Turbolaser, 2 Turbolasers, Sacred Icon Warhound - Vulcan Megabolter, Plasma Blastgun Warhound - Vulcan Megabolter, Plasma Blastgun Sentinels Sentinels ![]() I wanted to try out the Imperator in a 3000 points game, to see if it's balanced. And I think it is. Sure, it's almost impossible to destroy or even break it, short of committing your whole army to the task, but it's also NOT so powerful that it annihilates anything it fires at. Just like an Ork Great Gargant, the best thing to do is to avoid it. Well, to try, at least. ![]() It does a lot of damage but mostly it breaks one formation per turn. I don't think it's necessary to add some kind of "split fire" rule (I used to but I've changed my mind  ![]() Congrats to E&C for this version of the list: it's simple to use and yet gives you a lot of options. I also love the fact that there are now 3 lists, it's much better that way. |

Thanks for the great report Hojyn. Is that your opponent's usual IG army style? How does it tend to fare against other armies? |

No, he usually plays a much more balanced army, with a mix of tanks, SHT, artillery and infantry. We never know in advance what kind of army the other player is going to bring, so I probably got lucky he made an army with so many expansive formations. Easier for my Imperator to earn back its points, I guess.  ![]() That said, it could have worked the other way around, because he had quite a lot of TK weapons... |

By the way, I completely forgot to ask a question that came up during the game (better late than never, heh? ![]() The Plasma Annihilator is a Slow-Firing multi-shot weapon, so I thought it worked like the Plasma Blastgun of the Warhound, i.e. you can choose not to fire at full power and "save" some shots for the next turn. Turns out you can't, as this is a special rule of the Warhound and nowhere else in the rules is it stated that you can do it. The Plasma Annihilator has to fire all of its 4 shots or nothig at all. So, is this intentional? Don't you think that if one plasma weapon can do it, all plasma weapons should be able to do it as well? |
