from reading through Dan Abnnets 'Titanicus' i was wondering on peoples opinion of rocket pods and CCW on scout titans?

for the rocket pod the inferno cannon rules work quite well as a proxy. but what would the effects be on game play for CCW and/or Las Burners? Also would it fit the current AMTL list style?

CCW and LasBurners on Warhounds would multiply their assault capabilites and, given their speed, would be easy to employ and difficult to balance.

I´d be very cautious as they might easily be game-breaking.

I have previously called for the return of Rocket Pods for Warhounds as I see these as fitting role that the hounds can contribute to the AMTL list. E&C has said that he doesn't want them to have them, but before I modify my two rocket pod hounds I wait for the list to be fully confirmed.

The only way that I could see dedicated CC/FF Weapons being allowed as an upgrade for Warhounds is if they were individually priced and to do this we might have to revert back to one of the former ways the list was put together which was much more laborious way of building the list (although it did have its supporters).

As a power gamer at heart, I would love to be able to field a pair of Warhounds with 2 Lasburners each. 6 basic attacks plus 16 extra attacks in b2b contact, on average that's 11 hits. How much would you pay for that?

Yeah.  I have to say FF weapons especially would be nasty on a Warhound - high move, shields to discount hits in assaults, decent armor, WE advantages... scary.

Could always wait for a varient list Tim! :)

Agreed, but I don't see a problem with them having multi-launchers.

Well, surely any CC/FF weapons on Warhounds would be "Scout version" and not throw out as much fire as the Big Boys.

To clarify my reasoning on this, I'm following the GW studio's lead on this matter... they say that Warhounds don't use rocket pods, and so the AMTL v3 Warhounds don't have rocket pods.

What they do have (As tim noted) is the inferno gun, which provides a close (Although not perfect) counts-as proxy.

The Dark Mechanicus Titan Legion in 'Titanicus' use some CCW's on their Warhound Titans (Although I don't remember any missile pods on Warhounds I easily may have missed it), but we can understand this to be a non-typical weapons loadout for most loyalist Legions.

Indeed, I am a great believer in variant lists, rather than one big list... as the now-three* Adeptus Mechanicus lists of the 3.x series demonstrates, as compared to the one all-in-one list of the v2 era.

I could easily see a niche for a Titan Legion that specialises in more assault orientated strategies, for example.

Such a Legion would have:

- Far fewer ranged weapon options.
- A full range of Close Combat weapons (Chainfist, Powerfist, Bident, Power-Ram, etc), and Firefight weapons, with access to some weapons for Warhound Titans too.
- Corvus Assault Heads.

etc.

*AMTL v2 was split into Knightworld, AMTL, and Skitarii army lists.

I think the current weapon options for Warhounds are fine. I still think they should have the option to take a Veteran Princeps though.

i also agree with that. But would that also allow for relics and CML?

Also to further the idea of 'scout CCW/las burner' what would be their stats?

Possible drawback of having Veteran Princepsi on Warhounds:

- They could remove two BM's per Warhound pair. This was found to be overpowered with Revenant Titans in the Eldar list when they were tested with Leader.

As upgrades go they'd possibly become a no-brainer?

I agree that Leader on every DC3 unit is monstrous, as we discovered with the Spirit Stone/Engine of Vaul issue.  Luckily, there's a simple fix if you want to include a Vet Princeps Warhound.

Just make it one per formation,  "Battle Titans and Warhound Packs only".  It's hardly a stretch.  All the other titan upgrades are already 1-per by their nature and all the others are already "battle titan only" as well.

That's fair, and even adds a little extra 'fluff' with a Warhound Packmaster being the Veteran.
