I thought automatons were anathema in the Imperium.

No. Strong unshackled AI is (Abominable Intelligence). There's plenty of AI around such as Land Raiders, Titans, in (at least marine) ships, etc. They are are designed to be interfaced with a human to control them usually and they don't act too independent without a human. This goes all the way down to weak AI as seen with servitors.

Oh and the AdMech has an entire wing devoted to automta, the Legio Cybernetica.

In the case of robots, the intelligence is even more limited. They basically get sets of rules about what actions to perform before the battle. Even then, a tech priest is in constant contact with the machines and will autodestruct any that malfunction.

Ah, I see. I was overestimating how independent they were. Thanks for the explanation!

Both robots and Sentinels come in units of 4 and they perform similarly so you shouldn't see a huge difference there. Just pretend they are sentinels :)

I've sent my intended changes on to the ERC and I'm waiting to hear back before releasing 3.24

Is there scope to have other variants of robots added in the future?

There are no plans to add more robot variants to the AMTL list or the Skitarii list. For AMTL the focus is on the titans not the robots and there's already fairly good range of options for support formations.

With Skitarii, the two versions we have already cover shooty and choppy. Adding more would start to step on the toes of other options or just be redundant.

I assume there's space for specialist lists though for the more esoteric factions in the mechanicum such as legio cybernetica and Ordo Reductor, yes?

yeah, I didn't have space for them at the time. The stats are the same as the IG hydras. I thought I had a note in the PDF about that.

The Ark needs a Tetrarch lander to transport troops to the group and the Tetrarch is only found in the cataphractii list so it can't use the transport option right now. It's on there for when the cataphractii list is finished.

Imperator: Yes, they get all the weeapons.
