After what he did to the Chaos codex, it will take a long time for me to actually like what he does.
Yeah, a tightly designed, straightforward army list without lots of needless and exploitable options and not exhibiting too much power creep. Not to mention the ability to take a proper Tzeentchian army that doesn't completely suck. What was he thinking?
Can't give you any advice on the AMTL, I'm afraid. I've only just started mine, so I'll be interested to see what people suggest, too.
Don't go there, Gav Thorpe did not balance the codex, he made it unbalanced in another direction, removed any interesting fluff, removed restrictions for people, and basically made it Codex Black Legion.  I'm sorry, but people who look at older codexes past 3.5 and 3.0 will realize they don't want a bland and simplified codex when they want something that's good.  Also, you don't want a good Lord and lots of Chosen?  Alright, you now have 2 lash Princes, overpowered Obliterators, and 6 Land Raiders, while all your fast attack choices are comparibly useless to your troops and your Elites are the worst section in the entire codex next to the old heroes that seem to have never redesigned to be 5th edition useful.  Congratulations, all you did was bring down 5 Overpowered lists to 2 and now we have no flavor in being Chaos. Also, Thousand Sons went from sucking to being still underpowered, and their Rubric Marines are the worst of the Cult Choices to take.
Regardless, as I've said before, I'm planning on a Trio Reaver team with warhound and Thunderbolt support.  Can someone point me in the right direction with upgrades?  Legion name is Legio Ruina.
