Something I think may be worth considering is removing the Mega-Titans from the tournament lists and put them in their own supplement.

It's something you agree to before the game and both players get to pick from the range of Mega-Titans presented and/or additional anti-titan weapons.

In it you'd get the current Imperator, Warmonger and Mega-Gargant. Then you could add (make up) other races larger titans like the Lugganath Magnate, a new Tyranid Bio-Titan and C'Tan. You could also add more specialist anti-titan weapons and variant Titan weapon load-outs for existing titans.

It would also be a good place for alternate titan damage tables and things like titan splitting fire rules.

Example
Vortex Grenade, 50pts - A single formation gets a single shot additonal CC attack at 2+ Tk(D6)

I've been asked specifically to balance the Emperor Titans for play with the normal scenarios many times... if that can't be done, then doubtless the Emperor would end up in a seperate supplement in some form, probably in the form of a Collector's section, but that would not be an ideal solution as far as I'm concerned.

I suggest that the best way to handle the Imperator is make it the focus of its own list.

You could easily make a list where you had 1 Imperator + restricted support and have it be both an uber-powerful single unit (with weaknesses) plus hard-to-use support units that somewhat make up for the weaknesses. In such a list, I don't think the level of titan customization used in the main AMTL list would be necessary. I'd even go so far as to say the warmonger would have its own, separate list.

But that's just my opinion. Having faced a force of multiple warlords plus a Imperator, I can honestly say that the Warlords gave me more problems. Also, was the issue of the interaction between the 10BP weapon and the BP MW weapon ever addressed? I am referring to the fact that at long range, you get 3 templates, but at short range you have to choose between 3 templates, or 2 MW templates. It's almost a disincentive to use the BP MW. (at least thats how it was in v3.11, I think)

As per the standard core rules, firing MW and non-MW BP weapons together goes to the lowest common denominator.

So Firing the Hellstorm Cannon (10bp) and the Quake Cannon (3BP, Macro Weapon) gives you a straight 13bp.

There are only two BP weapons on the Imperator, so if your description of how many templates you get sounds off.

At long range (90cm) you get one Macro-Weaper template.
At shorter range (60cm) you get 3 templates, plus 3 extra blast markers.

You can choose to not fire the Hellstorm cannon if you like, granting you 3BP MW at any range from 0cm to 90cm.

Certainly I like having the option to take an Imperator and I think you've done a very good job on the stats but I think that there is still some resistance to the point that it's possible that the Emperor Titans will be the only larger titans in any list.

I think your list is enough proof that the larger titans can work and should be included in relevant lists. The only other sufficiently progressed Titan list is the OGBM list which is missing an Emperor comparable Mega-Gargant in the main list.

Well OGBM needs to catch up!

On an kind of related note has the "2 of each missile" idea for the Warmonger been dropped? I proposed it as it made having a huge stock of missiles you'll never normally be able to fire quite useful as it gives you the ability to choose the right tool for the job.

That could be adopted ; currently it has the 'warhead' rule, which means you can choose your loadout when you write your army list (all vortex missiles, or whatever), which could be a bit gamey I guess.

Consider it in for 3.15.

Well OGBM needs to catch up!

As soon as you post some battle reports attempting to abuse Imperators, I'm all over it.

We're waiting on you!  :;):

Just to muddy the waters ... how BIG would an Emperor Titan be in the new Tony's Titan Real Scale ? And how much would it cost ?

If there's anything that should be 0-1, it's the emperors.

Ah, I see, I got the ranges of the 2 weapons reversed (not when playing, just when recalling). Still, the interaction between the two guns doesn't feel right to me.

In the case of non-BP weapons, as the titan gets closer to its targets, the number of guns that can fire on target increases. The guns with the longer range never drop off the list of guns that can fire.

But, combining the hellstorm cannon with the Quake cannon doesn't change much (an extra BM, but that's not much of a trade for giving up the MW ability).

What if the hellstorm stats were changed to:
2BP MW 60cm 7BP 60cm

That way, you could combine the two weapons to give 2 MW templates, or 3 templates with extra BMs.

Agreed, and have a Supreme Commander included in the cost as well. You don't talk back to a guy or gal piloting that thing.
