With E&C showing an approximate force he has been testing

My list was something close to:

1x Warlord Titan with 2x Plasma Blastguns, 1x Volcano Cannon, 1x Missile Launcher, and Carapace Multi-lasers.
1x Reaver with 1x Quake Cannon, 1x Vulcan Megabolter, 1x Lasburner
1x Reaver with 3x Missile Launcher
1x Warhound with 2x Turbolasers
1x Warhound Pack with 2x Vulcan Megabolters and 2x Inferno Guns

That list is actually 2975pts, so there was probably a 25pt weapon on the Quake Reaver in place of the VMB.

and the gratefully received comments from my last battle report I have been thinking again abour ideal configurations.

Here is what I propose to try out:

Warlord - 3x Gatling Blasters & LasBurner - Legate

Reaver - 2x LasBurner, Volcano Cannon & Carapace Multi Lasers

Reaver - LasBurner, Melta Cannon, Plasma Destructor & Carapace Multi Lasers

This leaves me with 725pts to add in support or allies to bump up activations. So thoughts, the Warlord is set up to put out 12 shots a turn and anchor one side of my advance, as it is the BTS the Lasburner has been added to give it more protection from engagments. I have also taken the Legate as I have found that I am failing critical activations without a SC Re-Roll.

Taking the advice that I need to be able to hit things at a longer range my FF Reaver has upgraded to a carapace mounted Volcano Cannon, great against hard targets but next to useless against hoards.

The other Reaver is also leaning towards engagements with a lasburner and melta cannon, however I am also taking a long range weapon in the form of a Plasma Destructor which will put a dent in a formation in the first turn.

Comments?

What was the activation count and general composition of the Eldar?

It was Pulsar's 'a bit of everything' Eldar list.

1x Scorpion SHT
1x Void Spinner SHT
1x Stormserpent(?) SHT (The one with the portal)
1x Guardians with wraithguard and wraithlords & Farseer
1x Pheonix(?) landing craft with 8x Fire Dragons inside it
3x Fire Prisms
3x Indirect Fire AV's (I forget their name)
1x Aspect formation with Autarch & 4x skimmer APCs to carry them.

Can't remember if he had anything else.

I walked all over him, in part due to some impressively poor activation rolls on his behalf (He must have failed half of them).

In toto I lost a bunch of Void Shields, and a single DC of damage from a Warhound Titan... everything else went unscathed.

OMG Titans are overpowered! :D

Titans are! :)
They are balanced due to objective system, but I have never seen anybody to win titans by points after 4th turn.

it's a list i've been trying out, it normaly works fine, but not making any of the important activaction rolls really sucked, and the vampire with the fire dragons in not turning up for the whole game also sucked!

- - - - Now I remember having a similar game with E&C not so long ago; Hmm could there be some form of co-incidence here - perhaps something to do with the evil glint in his eyes ??

At least you cannot put the blame on me or my dice ?:p

Aye, it was similar, although not quite as astonishing as your dice rolling, there came a point on turn 2 where I'd have had to have tried very hard to lose the game.

- - - whereas in our encounter, you could not have lost, even if you had tried. So I keep the 'unluckiest' crown for a little while longer :D

(PS I had two interesting games with NickRice in which I struggled to throw to my usual standard, so he is starting to doubt the stories as fables :O )
