3+ opens a whole can of worms since it would require us to rebuild the entire plasma family to keep the stats related.

That wouldn't be needed, the other Plasma weapons could stay the same. Epic-UK have given the PD MW3+ while the other weapons stay at MW2+, they obviously have no problem with it (I objected to it myself at first but came round). The Destructor would have the advantages of longer range and higher number of shots but would need to sustained fire to be the same power as the others. It keeps the weapon for more of a support static titan (helping balance the weapon) and it fits well with the old background for the weapon using up power so preventing the titan from moving.

Mostly it makes it direct competition for the Lasblaster and I'd rather not see the PD at 50 points.

90cm 4 x MW3+ slow firing would seem pretty on par with the Lasblaster I would say, there's pluses and minuses to each and I would use both in different configurations for different things.

Crusdaders first and reduce PD to 5x then finally restrict to carapace on the Reaver. Crusaders are already listed in the playtest changes thread so if you want to help out that way swap them for sentinels in your games.

Good to see these three changes to the list. Not as much as Id like, but it's something.

I find this interesting. The 3+ for just the PD may very well work as you say. An added bonus might be that the feared PD an laser burner combo would be severely reduced. If you double to utilize the lasburners the next turn, your PD is far less scary. If you sustain, you're not utilizing the lasburners. It looks ike the abuse some have been speaking of would be severely reduced. PD could still be scary at range, but you can potentially avoid it more easily. I don't agree with the 90cm range or 4xshots though. Keep it 75 and at least 5 shots.

Worse than the LB. In fact, I don't see it being used with the 25 point PC matching the PD utility for everything except range.
I don't see the PD being 90cm or 3+. To do 3+ we'd need up keep the shots around 6 or 7. Lower than that and the weapon performs almost identically to the PC save for added range and price.

90cm is far more useful for a warlord than a reaver, reavers with 75cm weapons can do deployment zone strikes on advance, while a warlord has to double. Yet more reason that it is a reaver weapon (when fluff wise it just didn't have the reactor...).

Vaaish, if the 5x PD is still found to be OTT will we need to have this conversation all over again?

Why? Then we know that and nerf it some more.

Surely noone is in favour of all or nothing approach to "fixing" the list?

Not as such. More likely weighing alternatives at that point. However beyond just the drop to 5x shots and the addition of crusaders this go round, the next step is limiting it to the carapace on reavers. If there's still an issue then we can revisit.

No no, fair enough, I'm just concerned we'll have another 10 pages of the same argument to drop it again if necessary. ;)

Well, what does "success" look like? If Matt posts another batrep and opines they are still broken but others disagree (which is exactly the same as now) what happens.

Success looks like AMTL lists taking a PD here or there but not PD to the exclusion of all other weapons.

Question from the peanut gallery... what's a Crusader and who makes the figures?

the Crusader is one of the old robot classes. You can see a pic of the GW epic model in the AMTL pdf near the bottom with the other unit datasheets.

The modern version of it was just released by Forgeworld and is the Vorax Battle-Automata here:

Sorry for being a noob here, but what's the difference between this list and the netea-adeptus-mechanicus-titan-legion-2014-11-26 "approved" list?

One has rules for a Devotional Bell, the other doesn't. Are there other weapons issues? I was planning on outfitting some of my Titans with some old GW weapons that maybe aren't so terribly good or common.

The PDF at the start of this thread is the version of the list that is approved. The web version you referenced is supposed to be a copy of this list but it is not accurate to the PDF and doesn't include the collectors weapons.

I'd recommend just using the PDF for the time being and using the web version as a quick reference for weapon stats. If you spot a difference, use the PDF rules and stats.
