It strikes me that the main danger Infantry pose in CC is the ability to get inside the range of the titans main weapon systems and void shields- Take  the "titan hammer" terminator formation who seen to aim specifically for the leg joints.  Trying hit them that close to the titan with a chainsaw in that case would surely risk more damage to the titan than anything else.  Plus from the titans point of view close combat and firefight probably look very similar from 40metres up in  the air!

To my mind the appropriate anti CC solution would be point defense arrays, frag launchers and  possibly electric field generators which could all be seen as part of the titans CC value (as well as squishing things).   In fact the only suitable anti infantry CC main armaments I can think of would be the Laser Burner and the chaos titan "whip" arms.

Maybe an upgrade could be introduced that represents improved point defense systems, say adding +d3 or 2d3 CC attacks or add +d3 MW CC attacks that can be applied against Infantry or non-warmachine targets only?

So something like:

Upgrade point defense:

Point defense array, +d3 CC attacks, +25 points
Improved point defense array, +2d3 CC attacks, +50 points
Plasma reactor vents, +d3 CC MW attacks, + 50 Points

note- Can only be applied against Non War Engine Targets

edit- obviously these should be exclusive

Yeah, i was thinking of battle titans only here as Warhounds are designed to run away rather than stand and fight it out I would say

Hey i like the idea of dedicated anti-non-warengine CC-weapons.
The idea that a Titan bends or kneels down to wipe off those little things from his feet with a giant fist wreathed in destructive energies always makes me shuckle :D

I really like the initial list - 3.03 and its simplicity compared to previous versions.

I do think its important however to keep this stripped down feel - at the moment everybody seems to want another fancy toy added - anti-WE cc, TK AA, anti spacecraft guns etc., which will just lead us back towards the bloated old list.

I would prefer flak to remain confined to the carapace lasers on battle titans - a list doesn't need to be good at everything. The present list means you can provide some flak but super-hydras,or ?, dotted everywhere are going to remove any opportunities for some lists vs.amtl

Could warhound packs be moved to the support section? - this would force TL players to take a minimum of two battle titans - a good thing for an AMTL list, and prevent massed warhound armies.

This would be my preferred solution... with the minor addition of allowing the (Very slow) Ordinatae to take this upgrade too if they wanted to.

I'm somewhat mulling over dropping Carapace Multi-lasers to 25pts, as it seems prohibitively expensive at 50pts... on the other hand, at 25pts they'd probably become a de-facto compulsory purchase for anything capable of taking them.

What about dropping them to 25pts but have them as AA only weapons.  since they are mounted high on the carapace they shouldn't beable to depress the barrels enough to shoot at infantry or tanks.

This would limit their roel somewhat (normally on such titans as plasma-lords which will use the multilasers to place BM is they have alpha stuck a formation).

Not to be slave to fluff, but the CML has always been an anti-infantry CIWS for Titans. I'd prefer it stayed that way, but I am open to a dedicated AA weapon for Titans. This would eliminate the need for Hydras.

Whyt about a dedicated weapon for AA such as the Hunter or Hyperios? You could have either Carapace Multi Lasers OR Carapace Hyperios Turrets on a Titan...not both to balance this a bit.

Gave Lasburners a CC mode
Allowed Ordinatae to take Carapace Multilasers
Moved orbital support to support formations



Currently the Orbital Support has the standard stats of the Imperial Navy ships... do we want the Ad-Mech ships to be any different?

Notably, I think Orbital Support will be more useful to the Ad-Mech than to the IG, because the IG has plentiful artillery, whilst the Ad-Mech have to pay through the nose to gain such abilities.

I think that titans should have available to them some form of dedicated AAA weapon...if for no other reason than I can't see the AdMech deploying such a vital asset without giving it the ability to defend itself from air attacks if it should be deployed outside the envelope of its supporting AA assets.

That being said...I ?like the idea of being able to deploy hunters on my titans...but in the end, I would agree that this list should not be cluttered with too many options...no matter how cool or neat.

As such I would support keeping the AA armament restricted to carapace laser mounts..provided we could see an adjustment in cost.
