If your going for a single purpose weapon, how about something like a stripped down defence laser?  Something like 45cm, AA3+ (TK1)  Should help to drop those pesky mantas...

mantas...

Mantas aren't shot at by AA weapons as they're super-heavy skimmers rather than aircraft.

Sorry to be pinikity. :)

ok, thunderhawks then :p

What im thinking here is to produce something that is rather different to most other AA, ie it will drop any small aircraft it hits and make multiple DC aircraft at least take a crit check without  necessarily being better against swarms of fighta bommerz.  Perhaps TK is overkill though, MW may be better.

I guess once you start going down this road  you open the possibility for dedicated AT titans that could offer strong AA blankets to IG or Skitarii forces- I actually think this could be a neat idea, kinda like the Jjapanese Yamato Batttleship.

I thought I would ask a few questions about the ordinatii.

Why do the minoris have void shields?  (I can't remember any referance to them being shielded)

Is it to seperate them from other SHTs, which are armed with titan grade weapons?

The Ordinatus Minois from dark apostle could be just normal SHTs, but the style of construction of the forge world could be that they appear different.

Are the Ordinatus majoris a halfway house between the minoris and the named ordinatii, or are they a way to personalise the named Ordinatii? (so a golgotha might have two barrage missiles etc).

Why if they are the big ordinatii, do they have such a low DC count?  DC4 doesn't sound like something the size of a city block, or something that the destruction of would disheartern the ad mech.

In a word, yes.

That's why their armour save is 5+ RA too.

The latter.

DC-4 is about right for the old model. At maximum it would be DC5.

Additionally note that DC isn't simply a function of size, but also of how much damage it is able to take before ceasing to operate.

Ordinatii aren't heavily armoured purpose-build vehicles like Baneblades, they are ancient relics, goaded into battle by enginseers at least of fearful of their eldritch charges as they are of the enemy.

Thanks for the quick response.

I am hoping to be able to get in a game on Saturday and will see how the majoris does.

I will also try out a plasma-lord.

One final question (for today), Why does the majoris have inspiring?

It doesn't strike me as something that you want in combat.

Is this the kind of weapon that would be mounted on an Ordinatus for AA and "space flak"?

I've certainly considered it.

I tend to err on the side of 'easy proxies' where I can though... and this is not an easy weapon to proxy, IMHO.

How hard can it be to proxy a defense laser?  It is effectively a volcano cannon in a different mounting so any of the old plastic volcano cannons should suffice plus a plasicard rigged mounding.

In fact an even better option, assuming you want to stick to currently available parts, would be the current 40k devastator lascannon theres got to be a simple conversion that can be done there.  The harder conversion IMO is the ordinatus minoris itself.

Now, since im going to be getting some bits from BWbits anyway soon, i may have to throw in a lascannon to put my money where my mouth is  :confuse:

I'm not entirely convinced that the Defense Laser is the one to go for yet, mind you.

More opines please.
