I don't feel the "God Machines" rule has done what we'd hope it would: Prevent the "play for a draw" playstyle being the most effective way to play the list.

Therefore, I'd like to propose a new Special Rule to replace God Machines, "Locus of Control" :

In games using the Tournament scenario, each Titan in the army may only contest/control a single Objective at a time, rather than multiple Objectives like a normal formation. In cases where a Titan is standing within 15cm of two Objectives, the controlling player may decide which Objective counts as controlled by the Titan (The other Objective remains completely un-contested by the controlling player unless he can use another formation to contest/control it). Non-Titan units in the army behave as normal.

This would prevent the standard "place two objectives on the mid-point of the table, move a Warlord Titan to stand between them, and instantly deny 3 objectives to the enemy", by forcing the AMTL player to use more than just one Titan to capture & contest enough objectives to almost guarantee a draw.

I might be interested in implementing this same rule in the OGBM army list too.

Thoughts?

At first glance I really don't think its very fluffy and I don't like it....

I understand the reason behind it but fluff wise why couldn't a Warlord Titan cover 2 objectives but a Infantry Company could? Seems odd. Titans might need a rule or something to adjust for a win style but I don't think this is it.

Here's the background "fluff" I wrote for the rule:

The Titans of the Adeptus Mechanicus are fearsome engines of war, but the sheer density of capability embodied in each Titan carries with it a certain amount of risk; the greater the concentration of power in each individual unit, the easier it can become for a cunning enemy to out-manoeuvre lone Titans.

It does, but something is needed to change the playstyle of the list away from "take an arty Titan to stand on the Blitz, plus another Titan to stand between two objectives, and play for a draw".

It may well encourage the use of the corvus i.e to keep a unit relatively safe until you need to spread out and take that other objective.

I think with this rule, I may actually get a game with my AMTL, most of my opponents aren't keen.

Not really in favour of it at all.
It just seems to break the rules in the hope of changing play styles.

I can see why your doing this (although Titan Legions playing for draws has not happened around here) but I never really like changing rules to try and force players to change their game.

It's not at all just hope.

At the least it will force the AMTL player to bring forwards a 2nd Titan to capture objectives, or use other non-Titan units to do it.

If you intentionally play for a draw, the list is simply very overpowered, because you can generally win the draw by a big margin on points.

It's the only remaining major flaw in the list.

Captain brings a nice point with the Pod. But then you'll see an Artillery Titan with a Pod of guys waiting to spring out at the last second and then a similar result.

However I agree with Onyx for the most part.

And Who want's to play for a draw? That's not very fun?

Tournament players.

Playing for a draw, and automatically winning on victory points, is very easy with the current AMTL list.

It's a bit out of there but if victory points are a problem could the Necron VPs rule from BFG be adapted to fit AMTL/Epic? So damaged/broken titans earn the opponent vps at the end of the game.

Hmm, all other formations are able to do this, but Titans not? Seems not logic to me.

Most other formations contain more than one unit.

Well yes, but a single Baneblade or any other type of WE or singe-stand non-broken units can do this.

This.

A single Super Heavy Tank can claim 2 objectives.
I just don't think the proposed change is the solution.

Please feel free to propose something else that can fix this game-breaking problem.

What about just saying any unit (so infantry stand, vehicle, warengine, whatever) can only ever capture or contest one objective.

So a formation can still capture several by allocating units to each one, but nothing else can...

I know that's a change accross the board, so unlikely to happen
