I didn't know they had been added back until I looked at the most recent version. When Chimeras and Hydras were removed, I completely stopped playing Skitarii and hadn't bothered looking at subsequent updates.

IIRC the change to rhinos was reverted in the next update if you want to give the list another try. I will say, though, that I'm planning to move hydras to a upgrade only rather than a separate formation.

Chimedons came back because we dug up some fluff about how they were only ever issued to Skitarii Tech Guard regiments in general.

I'll give the Skitarii list another try at some point. The next few months I'll probably be busy with Inquisition, Squat and Tyranid playtests. I'm okay with Hydras being upgrades.

Please post a batrep! I'd be very interested in learning how to make such a list work - it is very thematic, but I suspect it may be too slow to effectively capture objectives on the opponents half of the table. Do you have a plan in mind already?

So the game went about as expected and I lost. The Ordinatus are awesome and worth their weight in gold. I should have left the Minoris company at home and taken some forge knights or sentinels for more activations. On the Objective turn I just didn't have enough things left on the table. With more units he was effective in focusing firepower to get the tanks and Minoris wiped.

Working o a better list for the next one. I am thinking:

Ordinatus Armageddon 550
Ordinatus Mars 500
Skitarii Demi-Century 275
Tech-Lord 100
5 Chimedons 125
Hydra 50

Tank Cataphract 500
3 Forge Knights 200
3 Forge Knights 200
3 Forge Knights 200
3 Forge Knights 200
Sentinel Squadron 100

I'll be curious to see how this list performs. You've moved to the opposite extreme and taken a rather large amount of forge knights. In the past I've found that a detachment of 3 usually doesn't do much unless they can get a charge in before taking damage or BM and that a 6 strong detachment usually gets one good charge before they become fairly ineffective. Perhaps with this many they will have enough numbers to tip the scales.

Thanks for the report.

Don't you need 10 Chimedons for a Demi-Century? They can only carry one stand each.

When I find time (this week has two sundays, right? right?), this is the list I'll try. I've annotated with intended roles.

Demi-Century, Tech-Lord, Chimedons [625] Advance, take and hold objectives
Demi-Century, Mole Mortars, 2x Praetorians [525] Forward Garrison, Area Denial, AA umbrella
Minorus Cpy, 2x QC, CLP [550] Blitz Guard, Long range fire support
Forge Knights (x3) [ 200] Operational reserve, Engage with support from Skitarii.
Hvy Tank Cataphract, Vanquisher [350] Fire support
Crusader Robots Maniple [150] Minorus Screen
Crusader Robots Maniple [150] Minorus Screen
Mechanicus Gothic Cruiser [150] Engine-killer
Thunderbolt Squadron [150] AA, Prep fire, Cleanup harassment
Thunderbolt Squadron [150] AA, Prep fire, Cleanup harassment

I tried to include the Colossus robots, but couldn't really find a purpose for them that Heavy Tanks don't do better or Forge Knights do cheaper. Looking forward to hearing how they fare in playtest.

Hmm... I find I go the opposite way. Forge knights are always a one hit wonder and most time do little before they get reduced below useful levels. With the group of three you only need one kill to break and once broken they melt without fearless. Colossus robots provide better FF and a little better ranged support since they can hit both infantry and AV targets and produce a few more dice per stand at longer ranges while the knights give you better CC with the infiltrator and extra attack. Different roles IMO.
