I'm not wild about the God Machines rule for two reasons.
1. It tends to give TK heavy armies a fairly easy BTS goal.
2. It tends to promote cheap numerous battle titans rather than encouraging a player to build more expensive titans. If you can lose BTS simply by losing any battle titan, then you might as well keep per unit costs down and build as many as you can. After all, losing the cheapest one still costs you BTS.

[/QUOTE]

I wouldn't favor 1/2 starting damage capacity BM's. But it's not a bad idea. Adding BM's to units within LOS when a battle titan goes down would be a better choice than granting automatic BTS, IMO. Perhaps a single BM to every formation within LOS would be a suitable penalty and could certainly make a big difference late in the game.

Please leave BTS as applying to the most expensive unit. This approach is consistent with the game mechanics and keeps special rules to a minimum.

Finally, while I prefer the lightest touch for the "God Machine" rule, even still I don't like special rules like this. They almost always feel gamey to me. I believe it makes the game less approachable to new players.

Hope I've made sense.

I'm already not thrilled about it, this is coming from someone who is still waiting to actually build their Titans.

I thought you were now limited to 1 free weapon? So the above reaver would cost 625? Same as an MRL Reaver?

You're right, that particular free weapon reaver was hit very hard. the MRL Reaver has the extra range and is probably the all round better titan unless you really want ignore cover.

Not at all relevant to discussions.

Hive Worlds like Armageddon are almost entirely impossible to re-teraform.

Infact, Armageddon is going to be a spawning ground for Orks for a long time.

Anything can be terraformed!

Just just can't see the point as what is the functional utility of a nice lawn outside the hive?

Pretty much everyone seems happy with the list.

You can still build a silly list that can force drawing wins (but is unlikely to ever actually win big and so isn't a danger at tournaments, and in friendly games you can just tell your opponent not to be a nub), and the Emperor Class Titans are still a question mark, but other than that people seem to be happily playing the list in their clubs and homes without complaint.

It is my intention to refocus development for the Mechanicus armies onto the Skitarii PDF and Knight World lists in the new year.

I still have a few concerns with the recent implementations, but if every one else is happy with it I guess I'll just stick them out for archival purposes.

God Machines rule:
I think this is too effective in forcing AMTL to be based around Warlords and almost kills the desire to take reavers. I think it could be reworked or toned down somewhat to make reavers a bit more viable.

One free weapon per reaver:
The problem I run into here is that after taking the free weapon there doesn't seem like much reason to take anything but TLD's from the 25 point range. Perhaps simplify the rule to allow two free weapons per battle titan and increase the hull cost of the reaver by 25 points to preserve the utility of the free weapons list a bit more?

I don't care for the God of Machines rule either. "Everybody seems happy with it". Everybody is a pretty small group in my opinion. Those that don't post or watch the boards fanatically don't seem to count.

It's hard to hear opinions from people who don't post anything at all!

I shall rephase my comment to "(almost) everybody who is vocally participating in the development process..."

And yes, your briefly proffered opinion has been noted. I would love to hear about your experiences with the AMTL list in greater detail.

Thank you. Point taken. If opinions aren't offered they can't be considered.

I just didn't see a response from you regarding this rule on my first post. That post occurred far earlier on this thread. So, I quietly exited the process. Don't wish to butt in where my opinion might not be consistent with those more highly involved posters.

Playing the game is my love, not posting.  I'm not a big fan of fan based development although it is obvious we have little choice.

Not sure I have much to offer you beyond what I have said. I have only played about a dozen or so games with AMTL 3.16. I assume others have played many, many more. The God of Machines rule makes BTS a bit too easy for AMTL's opponents INMHO. It also tends to discourage aggressive play at least in my experience.
