Was the Hydraphant mentioned in any of the old Epic stuff? I seem to remember seeing that name before. If so which stuff is it mentioned in?

I believe the "Hydraphant" name was made up for this edition of epic.

In the older editions the smaller Bio-Titan was the "Hierodule" and the larger the "Hierophant". ?For some reason, when they made their Tyranid "super-heavies", Forge World called them "Hierodules", so, the names, essentially, got bumped down one "rank" in size, and that left the big Bio-Titan without a name.

I believe Jervis coined it, but I'm not 100% on that.

Yep, Chroma has it right. and yes Jervis came up with it.

Wasn`t Hydraphant mentioned to be a Dominatrix without Hive Mind Nexus? At least I can remember such an issue in E40k

It was originally intended to be so... but not anymore.

The Dominatrix and the Hydraphant are now definitively different creatures, with different stats and different models.

That was early in Tyranid development for EPIC:A, it's never been in EPIC:40k.

What is Epic:A? Armageddon?

Yep.

Many people call Epic's 4th edition Epic:Armageddon or Epic:A, after the first rulebook released for it.

So the old Dominatrix model is how a Dominatrix looks now?

Yep.

But she's not "the same size as a Hydraphant" The model is a bit smaller.

That reference to "same size" has been removed; it was just flavour text and has no bearing on the models.

Many people have been making their own Bio-Titans/Dominatrix using 40k Tyranid creatures as the base, so there's a lot of variability and sizes... which is cool, in my opinion.  *laugh*

I guess it'll mean I have to use less parts when I 28mm her.

The thing is, with Tyranids there can be a wide variety of mutation/evolution, so just go as crazy as you want to!

I made a huge (EPIC) custom Dominatrix called the "Red Queen" for last year's Titan Creation Competition... She's a lot larger than a "normal" Dom, but still looks cool!

You can see Her here: The Red Queen

And Her rules (which need to be updated) are here: Red Queen .pdf.
