I will be having a game with a guy playing orks.

Nids are my only epic 40k army, and I haven't played them since their v2.0 of the rules, they were so broken that no one wanted to play against them. ?I am really excited about the new rules, as they do look and feel more like an epic army.

I have a few questions....

Is the hydraphant still the dominatrix w/o the guy on the back? and is the heirophant the LARGE bio-titan? and then is the heirodule the smaller bio-titan?
>NEVERMIND READ THE OTHER THREAD ON MODELS<

I got 2 of the smaller ones, one of the bigger one and 3 dominatrixes (don't ask ;) )

At any rate I got the following list for a quick 2k game, please comment as I have lotsa bugs to swap out for this:

2x Assault Groups ea with
3 Tyranid Warriors
3 Termagaunts
3 Gargoyles
2 Raveners
3 Hormagaunts

Dominatrix Group w/
Dominatrix
2 Trygons

Hierophant

4 Lictors

6 Myecetic Spores...

The hope is that the dominatrix group can stay alive by leading with the trygons then using her 2d3 coupled with a spore to try to bring them back up. ?If he has enough AT, MW, TK to bring down both in a turn, hopefully I can bring one back up to keep her somewhat safe.

The other broods will try to focus on objectives. ?

This list was built with sheer fun in mind rather than playablity as I just wanna get a feel for the new rules, but comments are certainly welcome.....

Units available:
6 Hive Tyrants
15 Tyranid Warriors
3 Dominatrixes
3 Harridans
3 Synapse nodes (pretty small, converted, probably the lesser, there was only one type when I played last)
35 termagaunts
10 Hormagaunts
10 Gargoyles
9 Genestealers
9 Zoanthropes
6 Carnifexes
3 Biovores
3 Dactylis
4 Exocrines
6 Malefactors
2 Small bio-titans
1 Large bio-titan

Looking forward to hearing from you!

I just played my first game with the new rules (well 7.1 anyway not sure what people have gotten up to on here) tonight @ 3000pts vs Eldar and we had a lot of fun.

Yes with regards to the BioTitan names though I am not sure about the dominatrix with the guy on its back part.

I wouldn't personally use a Dominatrix in 2000pts as I would try and get more activations instead but that really depends on what sort of collection your opponent has and what there list is like.

I was finding that I was getting out manouvered quite easily and that not having much shooting meaning I didn't put a lot of BMs out let my oponent keep their army under control and out activate me.

Hopefully you plan on playing with rules version 8.1.1. They are the latest version. There is still some work to do, but the mechanics works well.

The smaller boxed set Bio-Titans are now called Hierophants in version 8.1.1. The larger boxed set Bio-Titan (actually labeled Hierophant) is called the Hydraphant in version 8.1.1.

The Dominatrix is still called the Dominatrix and has the little guy in the basket riding on the Titan's back.

There are no miniatures currently made to fit the version 8.1.1 Hierodules, so proxy away.

Hope this helps, and if anyone knows different than what I have described, please feel free to correct me.

Looking forward to hearing how it goes.

Well it's a couple of weeks removed, but in short taking the dominatrix was a mistake as he had enough AT to kill the 2 trygons (using a couple of TK weapons) and I overestimated how easy it would be to respawn them.  The reality is it's really hard to respawn them.

Also, I ran the hierophant into a firefight, not noticing that he wasn't fearless and thus got killed by hack-down hits... damn those biotitans are hard to use!

He had all his mobs as big mobs, so my smallish broods also struggled, mainly because i had spent so many point in big stuff.

That being said, I liked the way the new nid list played. Much more like an epic army rather than a broken piece of garbage.

I will be looking forward to my next game in a week or so!

That's awesome, I'm glad you had fun despite the lose.

If you have the time, could you provide more details about the next matchup? I know there is a batrep form that makes it easy.
They help the magicians work out the balance act, and they are also fun to read! :)
