A couple of friends of mine have convinced to to have a campaign with them with my nids invading an imperial system (what we do best ![]() Now they want me to teach them how to play epic so I don't trash them ![]() One of my mates will take the guard the other the marines, so they can get the hang of epic and how nids work in epic. The IG list will have a baneblade company, some warhounds, a sentinel squadron or two and either a hydra detachment, a leman russ formation and 4 IG foot slogger formations or the hydras and russes will be imbedded in the infantry. I want to know what evolutions of the list to try against them? I have (in the past) done a bio-titan legion o' doom against one of them, so a big critter list is out (he hated it due to a combined assault of a dominatrix with two hieordules and two hierophants against an 'uge mob). So what focus should the list have, and what experimental stars should I use? |

(ragnarok @ Mar. 13 2007,19:32) QUOTE So what focus should the list have, and what experimental stars should I use? Actually, I'd say try some 2000 point games so you can, perhaps, get in a couple of "quick" games, perhaps even on a 4x4. Have these guys played much EPIC yet? I'd almost recommend doing some Marine vs IG fights first, just to get the mechanics down. If not, then just go with a basic army from 7.3.1, with none of the experimental stuff, with a good mix of Broods and Independents. (Aside - if you're really doing a Tyranid invasion, I'd recommend taking a look at my "Attack" Phase list for initial planetary insertion!) |

Hena makes a good point but if the Nids are to have a starring role in the campaign then it would be no bad thing for them to be introduced to them from the off. I would suggest for the training games you take a numerous gaunt heavy army. Maybe throw in one hierophant, some 'stealers and one AV tyrant led swarm. This is my kind of deafult nid army which gives new opponents a taste of what its like to face the bugs. In the demo games I would probably omit most of the units that are still under discussion. Like Lightbringer says, and if you are really going to take any big Tyranid WE then the guard player should really have some shadowswords or something IMO. |

After taking everyones iodea into consideration, the first version of the demo game will be IG Vs IG training game Each side will have: 2 infantry companies a sentinel formation an understrength russ company (6 russ and a hydra) a WYSIWYG FW baneblade a Warhound titan (titans is what EPIC is all about) and if they get the idea quickly a thunderbolt squadron Then if they have time afterwards a IG vs nid game The nids will only have two WEs, a Harridan and a DC4 fearless, invulnrab;e save Heirophant. As well as trying out a pure gargoyle winged nexus swarm. And Chroma, I wil;l be trying out your attack phase list and CS's seeding swarm list. It is just a shame I don't have enough fexi for my bio-tank list ![]() |
