Hi,
I'm belonging a small E:A community in Japan,
and just start to paint 4000pts Tyranid Army.

I wish to join this forum and challenge to test play some experimental rules, but before it say "Hello" to veteran tyranid players.
(If I suddenly join important topics, you may think "Who is this bad english speaker? Where he comes from?", I'm afraid...)

In addition, would you give me some advices or answers if you have  spare time?

Tyranid models are hard to get in Japan, but I have 4 dominatrix.
In tyranid ver7, she looks not 0-1, but I feel 4 Dominas are too many for average games.

Then, anyone have ideas or advices for conversion?

I'm thinking about using her as a base of  Vituperator (Flying mother monster?), or as Hydra or Hiero.
I know old tyranid lists said, Hydraphant are  [?neutered? version of the Dominatrix]. But for now her DC is 6, I think ?neutered? domina may be more suitable for Hierophant... ???

Thanks for reading!

That's a lot of Doms! ?With them coming in at 450 points, in a standard 3000 point game, you would only be able to field two of them as you'd be limited to 1000 points of Synapse (1/3).  Even at 4000 points you can only fit in two... though I think only having two Synapse Groups to base your swarms off of might be a little low!

Warmaster Nice has some excellent conversions for other war engines using the Dominatrix body right here.

I believe that "neutered" idea was back when it looked like Specialist Games would be releasing all new EPIC Tyranid models. ?Since that's not going to happen now, we're using the old Dominatrix and Bio-Titan models.

Some felt that, since the Dom is a lot smaller than the 8DC big Bio-Titan, that its DC should be lowered, so the current playtest rules reflect that.

Please take a look at the Tyranid v7.3.1 and see what you think!

Welcome to the reclimation pool. :D

First off a request.  Can we please have a close up (or several close ups) of your ripper conversions.

They look like GW rippers with epic lictor talons, but I can't see what you have done to the head (you have done something haven't you?).

Also what do you use them for?  Am I right in thinking Raveners?

In his opening post.  I can see a rear view of a bootiful tyranid swarm with a thrope in the middle.

Or am I special and the only one who can see it?  :confuse:

Many thank you for your kind replies!

And thanks for introducing a tyranid conversion topic, Chroma .
I love an idea of making Domina body bigger with plastic Carnifex parts.(Yes I have many parts of fex!)
Perhaps it may be used as my Hydraphant.
Also I get a hint how to make Hierdules from plastic 40k models.

>About a picture
I don't know why sometimes a pic is not appeard...
But you can see it here

Yes, they are my Raveners.

PIC orURL

Excuse me for bad picture.(I'll try better when I take photos of my nids again)
Some of them have extra crapace from plastic nids on their heads, and some don't have.

I know infantry stands should have three or more models on it. But Raveners are only "can build from 40k" common broods, and I need them many.(I could get plastic infantries from only eBay...)
At least my opponents will understand they are Raveners. Enough.

Actually, "large" Tyranid infantry can be based "1-3" per stand... and most people seem to have been using single Rippers to represent them anyway! ?*laugh*

Yours look really good!

That's a great idea for the raveners! I have a feeling Lictors will become harder to come by on Ebay in the future :D

When I began collecting the bitz to make up my Nid army I decided t forget about using the old Bio titans. They're too expensive on Ebay anyway I think. Dominatrix' (dominatrices?) are much cheaper on the other hand abd with a bit f work I think they make very nice BioTitans.
