Unless the idea is to allow 0-1 Broodlords per army (which I hope is not aimed here)

Well, according to the 40k Codex the Broodlord is the "first" and oldest Genestealer on the planet so there probably should be only one available.

The Broodlord is only a 0-1 choice in 40k.

Well it is 0-1 per detachment and a game of epic will have several 40K detachments involved so I think it should be 0-1 per swarm rather than per army.

Besides it is silly to think that only one stealer per planet will grow to broodlord size.  How do the others know to stop growing?  It isn't like they are all telepathically connected.

Actually, I believe they *are* all telepathically connected.

The Broodlord (or Patriarch for the old skoolers!) is the "head" Genestealer, all the rest on a planet that are infested have, essentiall, sprung from it.  It's the one sending out the psychic lure/call to bring the other Tyranids to a prey-rich world.

I've thought about fearless for it instead of inspiring, but I'm sure that'll get arguments too!  *laugh*   :alien:

Oh yeah.  That hive mind thingy that they have going   .

I'm still sure that GW has made some referance that a broodlord isn't a patriarch, rather a different form of bigger stealer.

I think that's more because they're trying to sweep Genestealer Cults (and all their assorted *bling*) under the carpet...

It is odd that you say that.  I have recently signed up the school club I runto the school league and got all the stuff on the school league torni that I will me taking my boyz too.  The front cover of the 40K rule set has the front cover the picture of the genestealer cult.  With all the hybrids at the front and the magus flanked by two purestrains above them.  I think it was the cover of one of the space hulk campaigns.

Is that an official GW document or something someone else put together?

I don't think hybrids, or even the "process" of Genestealer infestation, is mentioned at all in the new Tyranid book. ?There are hints about "host species" influencing the Genestealer's ability/form, but that's about it.

P.S. I *love* Genestealer Cults!

I pretty sure it is an offical document. ?I got it from their community advisor and it is on their website.

here is the pdf version.  Look at all the cute hybrids (yeah I'm a stealer cult nut too.  I remember rogue stealer wolf hybrids   )

Hena I'm not sure I understand you..

If we introduce this old rule then any formation that passes a spawn test can add up to three spores.  It would mean a Nexus Group could spawn 1d3+2 plus an additional three spores (useing d3 per spore rather then d6 presumably). If they were more than 30cm away then a nexus group could spawn 17 spawn points!? Yikes a'lordy!!

I'm not in favour of this at all.

Okay - I see what you were thinking.

I honestly don't have a problem with the the Hive Group being able to spawn with 4 dice (2 for the Dom, one for a spore and one for being over 30cm away) - If shes that far away then she's not being put to her best use.

If anything I would up the Dom's spawning roll to 2d3 +1 but that's another story....
