Hello!
I need help getting a shopping list togeather. I have a possible opportunity to get a backone tyrnid force but my source wanted a list. I havent played or played against tyranids so i can only guess what an effective force should look like.
What i have:
1 Dominatrix 1 Harridan 3 Trygons
What i want: A reasonally functioning force at 2000pts (including as much as possible of what i already have) and, secondary, whats needed to expand it to 3000pts.
I hope you tyranid pro's can help me with this.
best regards!

Well, first you need a minimum of 1/4 of your points in broods. A better number to aim for would be about 1/3. There are 65 points of broods on an infantry sprue (iirc), so to get 650 points of broods for roughly 1/3 of your 2000 points would be the equivalent of 10 sprues. You can get by with fewer if you mix in some proxies for Raveners.
9 sprues would give you 3 formations of Tyranid Warriors as well, so that's the core of your synapse creatures. It would also give you Genestealers for a decent sized formation and more Lictors than you'll ever need.
For 3000 you would need roughly another 5 sprues of broods. You might also want the Genestealers on the sprues but you should be fine without additional Warriors or Lictors at that point.
And I'm sure you can easily see why Nid infantry sprues fetch such a nice price on eBay.
You'll need a few Zoanthropes to scatter around for AA but other than that it's a matter of what kind of force you want to play.
