"Lictor replace Invulnerable Save with Special: Hard to See ? Any Formation further than 30cm away from a Lictor unit must count the Lictor as in cover (1- to hit) with a 4+ cover save." Nope I really think we should keep them the way they are right now, no new rules we have enough already. Genestealer add to notes (Up to 1 Genestealer unit per Army can be upgraded to a Broodlord with the following additions to it?s profile: Inspiring and Macro Weapon, Extra attack (+1)). add to army list entry for genestealer formation (Up to 1 Genestealer unit per Army can be upgraded to a Broodlord for +50 points)" (OK I am willing to try this one.) Gargoyles change to Bio-Plasma (base contact) (assault weapons) First Strike Brood (2)" Nope, they don't need it. Zoanthrope revise Warp Blast / 30cm / AP 4+/AT 4+/AA 5+ and (15cm) / (small arms) / Macro-Weapon I fear MW creep, I am trying to stay away from adding more MWs beyond a very few exclusive units TYRANID OBJECTIVES (choose up to 1) Tyranid Brood Nest (25 points) ? replace one objective on your table half. Up to one formation per Army containing no War Engine creatures may start off board and enter play, by placing the Synapse Creature Group w/in 5cm of this objective on any turn when they make a successful action test. Tyranid Spore Chimney (50 points) ? replaces 1 objective on your table half. Any Tyranid formation w/in 15cm of this objective (see T1.71) gains The Horror (Inspiring) Tyranid Capillary Towers (100 points) ? roll d3 and have the opponent replace that many generic objectives. Any Tyranid formation w/in 15cm of this objective (see T1.71) may re-roll up to one d3 during a Spawning Action." I don't really like this idea very much, sorry. That doesn't mean my mind is closed on it, I just don't like the concept right now Tyrant Guard Type / Speed / Armour / Close Combat / Firefight Armoured Vehicle / 15cm / 3+ / 3+ / - Weapon / Range / Firepower / Notes Rending Claws / (base contact) / (assault weapons) / Macro-Weapon Lash Whips / (base contact) / (assault weapons) / First Strike, Extra Attack (+1) Notes: Walker, Fearless Special: Sacrifice ? any Tyrant Guard within 5cm of a Hive Tyrant may be allocated one hit intended for the Hive Tyrant regardless of targeting rules including the Sniper special ability. If each Tyrant Guard has been allocated a hit this ability cannot be used to prevent the Hive Tyrant from being allocated a hit. (I don't see the need to micro-manage the units themselves, hence adding another new rule. I REPEAT no new rules, if it is going to take a new rule to include it then try and think of another way of doing it. The NIds already now have more then their fair share of Special Rules Malanthrope (200 points, Synapse Creature Group) Type / Speed / Armour / Close Combat / Firefight Light Vehicle / 15cm / 4+ / 3+ / 6+ Weapon / Range / Firepower / Notes Ripper Tidal Swarm / (15cm) (small arms) / Extra Attack (+1 per enemy unit w/in 15cm) Toxic Talons / (base contact) / (assault weapons) / Sniper, Extra Attack (+1) Notes: Reinforced Armour, Walker, Infiltrator, Fearless, Inspiring, Synapse (2d3-1)" (I am still mulling this one, gonna have to use it a few times A List of proposed WEs and AVs Dominatrix/Hydraphant Type/ Speed/ Armor/ CC/ FF WE/ 25cm/ 4+/ 4+/ 4+ Weapon/ Range/ Firepower/ Notes BigWarp Blast/ 30cm/ Macro-Weapon 4+ AA5+/ FFMW +1 Attack Ignore Cover Bio-Plasmic Breath/ 15cm/ 3x AP3+ AT5+/ Ignore Cover Spore Cysts/ (15cm)/ small arms/ +1 FF Attack Notes: Unchanged from v7.1 Harridan Type/ Speed/ Armor/ CC/ FF WE/ 35cm/ 4+/ 4+/ 5+ Weapon/ Range/ Firepower/ Notes 2x Bio-Gun/ 30cm/ 2x AP3+ AT6+/ none Spore Cannon/ 15cm/ AP3+ AT6+ AA5+/ Ignore Cover Big Rending Claws/ B-B/ CC Macro-Weapon/ +2 Attacks Notes: Unchanged from v7.1 Vituperator Type/ Speed/ Armor/ CC/ FF WE/ 30cm/ 4+/ 4+/ 4+ Weapon/ Range/ Firepower/ Notes 2x Bio-Gun/ 30cm/ 2x AP3+ AT6+/ none Spore Cannon/ 15cm/ AP3+ AT6+ AA5+/ Ignore Cover Large Rending Claws/ B-B/ CC Macro-Weapon TK/ +2 Attacks Notes: Unchanged from v7.1 Hierophant Type/ Speed/ Armor/ CC/ FF WE/ 25cm/ 4+/ 3+/ 5+ Weapon/ Range/ Firepower/ Notes Acid Spray/ 15cm/ 2x AP3+ AT4+/ Ignore Cover +2 FF Attacks Huge SLashing Claws/ B-B/ CC Macro-Weapon TK(D3)/ +2 Attacks Cluster Spines/ (15cm)/ smalll arms/ none Notes: Unchanged from v7.1 Malefactor Type/ Speed/ Armor/ CC/ FF AV/ 20cm/ 4+/ 3+/ 5+ Weapon/ Range/ Firepower/ Notes Cluster Spines/ (15cm)/ smalll arms/ none Big Slashing Claws/ B-B/ CC Macro-Weapon/ +3 Attacks Notes: Unchanged from v7.1 Hierodule Type/ Speed/ Armor/ CC/ FF WE/ 20cm/ 4+/ 4+/ 4+ Weapon/ Range/ Firepower/ Notes Acid Spray/ 15cm/ 2x AP3+ AT4+/ Ignore Cover +2 FF Attacks Bio-Gun/ 30cm/ 2x AP3+ AT6+/ none Big Claws/ B-B/ CC Macro-Weapon/ +1 Attacks Notes: Unchanged from v7.1 Barbed Hierodule Type/ Speed/ Armor/ CC/ FF WE/ 20cm/ 4+/ 3+/ 5+ Weapon/ Range/ Firepower/ Notes Cluster Spines/ (15cm)/ smalll arms/ none Large Slashing Claws/ B-B/ CC Macro-Weapon TK/ +3 Attacks Barbed Hooks/ 15cm/ AP3+ AT5+/ Ignore Cover Notes: Unchanged from standard Hierodule in v7.1 Trygon Type/ Speed/ Armor/ CC/ FF WE/ 15cm/ 4+/ 5+/ 3+ Weapon/ Range/ Firepower/ Notes Acid Cysts/ (15cm)/ small arms/ +2 FF Attacks Elctro-Shock Wave/ 15cm/ 2x AP3+ AT5+/ Ignore Cover +2 FF Attacks Notes: Unchanged from v7.1 Exocrine Type/ Speed/ Armor/ CC/ FF AV/ 5+/ 6+/ 5+ Weapon/ Range/ Firepower/ Notes 2x Bio-Cannon/ 45cm/ AP5+ AT3+/ none Rending Claws/ B-B/ CC Weapon/ +1 Attack Notes: Unchanged from v7.1 Haruspex Type/ Speed/ Armor/ CC/ FF AV/ 4+/ 5+/ 3+ Weapon/ Range/ Firepower/ Notes Cluster Spines/ (15cm)/ smalll arms/ none Acid Spray/ 15cm/ 2x AP3+ AT4+/ Ignore Cover +2 FF Attacks Notes: Unchanged from v7.1 Please comment and throw out thoughts and ideas. Harridan Type/ Speed/ Armor/ CC/ FF WE/ 35cm/ 4+/ 4+/ 5+ Weapon/ Range/ Firepower/ Notes 2x Bio-Gun/ 30cm/ 2x AP3+ AT6+/ none Spore Cannon/ 15cm/ AP3+ AT6+ AA5+/ Ignore Cover Big Rending Claws/ B-B/ CC Macro-Weapon/ +2 Attacks Notes: Unchanged from v7.1 Remove the 'spore cannon' because that's something Harridans do not have in today's Background or Rules, and I'm happyish with it... although 2x Bio-Gun should be a single twin-linked Bio-Cannon, according to the Background & Rules, though the difference is largely one of nomenclature. Hierophant Type/ Speed/ Armor/ CC/ FF WE/ 25cm/ 4+/ 3+/ 5+ Weapon/ Range/ Firepower/ Notes Acid Spray/ 15cm/ 2x AP3+ AT4+/ Ignore Cover +2 FF Attacks Huge SLashing Claws/ B-B/ CC Macro-Weapon TK(D3)/ +2 Attacks Cluster Spines/ (15cm)/ smalll arms/ none Notes: Unchanged from v7.1 This doesn't really reflect what a Hierophant is. A Hierophant in today's background has: - 2x Bio Cannons. - Lots of claws. ![]() It does not have an Acid Spray, or Cluster Spines. I'm 100% against this Hierophant configuration as its ranged weapons do not reflect its armament in the Background. (Barbed) Hierodule Type/ Speed/ Armor/ CC/ FF WE/ 20cm/ 4+/ 4+/ 4+ Weapon/ Range/ Firepower/ Notes Acid Spray/ 15cm/ 2x AP3+ AT4+/ Ignore Cover +2 FF Attacks Bio-Gun/ 30cm/ 2x AP3+ AT6+/ none Big Claws/ B-B/ CC Macro-Weapon/ +1 Attacks Notes: Unchanged from v7.1 Call it a Barbed Hierodule, delete the Acid Spray as a Barbed Hierodule doesn't have that. Done. Barbed (No, it's a Scythed!) Hierodule Type/ Speed/ Armor/ CC/ FF WE/ 20cm/ 4+/ 3+/ 5+ Weapon/ Range/ Firepower/ Notes Cluster Spines/ (15cm)/ smalll arms/ none Large Slashing Claws/ B-B/ CC Macro-Weapon TK/ +3 Attacks Barbed Hooks/ 15cm/ AP3+ AT5+/ Ignore Cover Notes: Unchanged from standard Hierodule in v7.1 Well, the statline is obviously that of a Scythed Hierodule, so call it that for starters. ![]() Then give it an Acid Spray, and delete the 'barbed hooks'... Done. Trygon Type/ Speed/ Armor/ CC/ FF WE/ 15cm/ 4+/ 5+/ 3+ Weapon/ Range/ Firepower/ Notes Acid Cysts/ (15cm)/ small arms/ +2 FF Attacks Elctro-Shock Wave/ 15cm/ 2x AP3+ AT5+/ Ignore Cover +2 FF Attacks Notes: Unchanged from v7.1 I prefer the Trygon we worked up here on the forum. As a general note, 'bio-guns' and 'bio-cannons' should be rationalized as the same thing, as we did in the list here on the forum. I think Zoanthropes should get a MW FF attack, to differentiate them strongly from the horde of 'normal' FF dice that get thrown in a Tyranid Engagement. They're psychers, let them be special. ![]() I also don't like the Tyranid Objectives as a component to the Tournament Scenario, but they could be useful in a Tyranid Invasion Scenario (Which could be included with the army list when done). I want a Malanthrope because he's cool. Overall I feel your list is somewhat inferior to the one we made here on the forum during your injury Jaldon, mostly due to the way in which your list directly contradicts the cannon Background & 40k Rules lots of times. ![]() IMHO our task here should be to stick 100% to the cannon weapons and general abilities of the FW Tyranid creatures because they will be getting new models. We're somewhat more free to work up rules for the other Metal AV's / WE's though, as long as we stick with WYSIWYG & the Background. Oh and as a final note & propasition of my own, I feel that cutting the link between the Hyrdraphant and the Dominatrix would be a good idea... the model won't be getting remade, so it seems pointless to me to try and link them in stats & abilities when the models look nothing alike and are dramatically different in size & armament. Again our WIP list on the forum here moved somewhat towards this end. |

Is this possible to be one per formation? Also I'd make the character out of it (leaves less stuff to notes). I agree, one per formation is *probably* justified under the current Background (Under the old background with definitely only a single Patriarch per planet, not so much). Broodlords appear quite a bit more common than Patriarchs used to be. Also I agree that the Broodlord could gain Character status. |

Hi Jaldon - good to have you back in the driving seat but I am finding myself more and more confused. Some comments: Harridan - with Hena, DC3? Pleeeeeaase! Malefactor and Haruspex - I can't keep up with these guys (and not because I'm fat or anything!) - one minute the Haruspex is the CC expert, the next its the Malefactor then I turn away and they swap again! Is it just me or do we seem unable to decide which one is going to do what? Bio-Titans - is the Dominatrix keeping Smite and are we keeping the weapon biomorphs? I'm presuming we are as there is nothing to say otherwise. Trygon - last time I looked this big fella had infiltrate and +2MW CC attacks - he's now an acid-spewing FF monster! Has he lost infiltrate or did he never 'officially' have it? I for one would find it useful to have a new cleaned up list (7.2?) from Jaldon including notes as my 7.1 appears to be all over the shop! Overall I feel your list is somewhat inferior to the one we made here on the forum during your injury Jaldon, mostly due to the way in which your list directly contradicts the cannon Background & 40k Rules lots of times. Remember what I said in my "Heeees Back" post, these two forums (Weapons and Vehicles) ARE so we can clean up the AVs/Weapons AND so I can catch up with where you guys had gone while I was gone. Please, please propose away as I am pasting them into a seperate file so I can puruse them. SO please don't just say hey Jaldon that one stinks, post a different version complete as you would like to see it changed. Then I can file it, print it up, and look it over where I do not have to sit down for any length of time. The only way we will get back up to speed is if we toss around ideas ![]() Harridan - with Hena, DC3? Pleeeeeaase! It is official, well in my book it is. I for one would find it useful to have a new cleaned up list (7.2?) from Jaldon including notes as my 7.1 appears to be all over the shop! I would like to clean up the weapons and AV/WE some before going into v7.2 Thanks All Jaldon ![]() PS No I didn't ignore the other posts, just mulling their preposotions |

Then I can file it, print it up, and look it over where I do not have to sit down for any length of time. The only way we will get back up to speed is if we toss around ideas ![]() Many apologies mate, I know I can be a bit blunt... and I definitely wouldn't want to keep you on your keister too much right now. ![]() Okay here goes. Here is Jaldon's Dominatrix/Hydraphant: Dominatrix/Hydraphant Type/ Speed/ Armor/ CC/ FF WE/ 25cm/ 4+/ 4+/ 4+ Weapon/ Range/ Firepower/ Notes BigWarp Blast/ 30cm/ Macro-Weapon 4+ AA5+/ FFMW +1 Attack Ignore Cover Bio-Plasmic Breath/ 15cm/ 3x AP3+ AT5+/ Ignore Cover Spore Cysts/ (15cm)/ small arms/ +1 FF Attack Notes: Unchanged from v7.1 One of the things some of us had a go at while you were away was splitting the Dominatrix away from the Hydraphant somewhat (Since we're not getting new Dominatrix / Hydraphant models anymore, it didn't make so much sense anymore to have them armed the same). And here's the Dominatrix from the forum: Dominatrix Type /Speed /Armour /Close Combat /Firefight WE /25cm /4+ /3+ /5+ Weapons /Range /Firepower /Notes - Bio-Titan Warp Blast 30cm MW 4+/AA 5+ and (15cm) (small arms) /Macro-Weapon, Extra Attack (+1) - Bio-Cannon 45cm 2x AP 3+/AT 4+ /Ignore Cover - 2x Bio-Titan Claws (base contact) (assault weapons) /Macro-Weapon, Titan Killer (d3), Extra Attack (+1) Basically just WYSIWYG, with the slightly modified Warp Blast FF abilities. The Bio-Cannon is identical to that on the Exocrine, so it got the same stats, which are based on the Bio-Cannon's stats in 40k. The forum list managed standardising Bio-Cannons across the board into two types: - Bio-Cannon 45cm 2x AP 3+/AT 4+ /Ignore Cover - Twin-Linked Bio-Cannon 2x 45cm AP 2+/AT 3+ /Ignore Cover There's a whole bunch of AV/WE's that got those, including Dominatrix, Hierophant(Modular), Hierodule, Exocrine & Harridan, amongst others. In 40k it's a truly superb anti-infantry tool, while being moderate against armoured vehicles it's not amazing, thus the stat mod from the 7.1 list (Which was basically the other way around). Now the Hydraphant. His weapons modifications have their roots in the discussions we had over the Hierophant, and how his armament stats did not reflect his armament in 40k, or the armament of the ForgeWorld model that will be released when the Tyranid list is released. However there are still lots of people with the old metal Hierophants with the modular weapons selections (And they have a possibility of being rereleased too, though that doesn't seem so likely after a chat I had with Andy H at GamesDay), so we developed a way of bringing all of these models / weapon arms together, and that was to develop a modular weapons set for the two Bio-Titans. So without further ado: Hydraphant Type /Speed /Armour /Close Combat /Firefight WE /25cm /4+ /3+ /5+ Weapons /Range /Firepower /Notes - Warp Blast 30cm AP 4+/AT 4+/AA 5+ - Bio-Plasmic Breath flame template MW 5+ /Macro-Weapon, Ignore Cover - 2x Bio-Titan Talons (base contact) (assault weapons) /Macro-Weapon, Titan Killer (1), Extra Attack (+1) - Bio-Weapon Slot (1) (select a weapon from the Titan bio-morph list, below) - Bio-Weapon Slot (2) (select a weapon from the Titan bio-morph list, below) Hierophant Type /Speed /Armour /Close Combat /Firefight WE /25cm /4+ /3+ /5+ Weapons /Range /Firepower /Notes - Bio-Plasmic Breath flame template MW 5+ /Macro-Weapon, Ignore Cover - 2x Bio-Titan Talons (base contact) (assault weapons) /Macro-Weapon, Titan Killer (1), Extra Attack (+1) - Bio-Weapon Slot (1) (select a weapon from the Titan bio-morph list, below) - Bio-Weapon Slot (2) (select a weapon from the Titan bio-morph list, below) Titan Bio-morph weapons: - Bio-Cannon 45cm 2x AP 3+/AT 4+ /Ignore Cover - Pyro-Acidic Spray flame template AP 4+/AT 5+ /Ignore Cover - Bio-Titan Claws (base contact) (assault weapons) /Macro-Weapon, Titan Killer (d3), Extra Attack (+1) - Ripper Tentacles (base contact) (assault weapons) /Extra Attacks (+d3+2) Yes we kept the template weapon as an optional arm (Which would cost a slot that could be used for a TK claw etc), and the Hydraphant kept it as a basic breath weapon too to help differentiate him from the Dominatrix and the Hierophant. Note that the standard configuration of the FW Hierophant model is 2x Bio-Cannon arms. Next up the Harridan: Jaldon's: Harridan Type/ Speed/ Armor/ CC/ FF WE/ 35cm/ 4+/ 4+/ 5+ Weapon/ Range/ Firepower/ Notes 2x Bio-Gun/ 30cm/ 2x AP3+ AT6+/ none Spore Cannon/ 15cm/ AP3+ AT6+ AA5+/ Ignore Cover Big Rending Claws/ B-B/ CC Macro-Weapon/ +2 Attacks Notes: Unchanged from v7.1 As opposed to the forum one: Harridan Type /Speed /Armour /Close Combat /Firefight WE /35cm /5+ /4+ /5+ Weapons /Range /Firepower /Notes - Twin-Linked Bio-Cannon 45cm 2x AP 2+/AT 3+ /Ignore Cover - 2x Piercing Talons (base contact) (assault weapons) /Macro-Weapon, Extra Attack (+1) Notes: DC-3, Reinforced Armour, Skimmer, Synapse , Fearless, Transport (Four Gargoyles) Again, WYSIWYG was the order of the day; the model has a twin-linked bio-cannon & large talons of some kind. There's no support for a 'spore cannon' or the like in the background / 40k rules, so that got dropped too. I was happy with DC3, RA5+, though that wasn't universally supported. The Hierodules: Jaldon's: Hierodule Type/ Speed/ Armor/ CC/ FF WE/ 20cm/ 4+/ 4+/ 4+ Weapon/ Range/ Firepower/ Notes Acid Spray/ 15cm/ 2x AP3+ AT4+/ Ignore Cover +2 FF Attacks Bio-Gun/ 30cm/ 2x AP3+ AT6+/ none Big Claws/ B-B/ CC Macro-Weapon/ +1 Attacks Notes: Unchanged from v7.1 Barbed Hierodule Type/ Speed/ Armor/ CC/ FF WE/ 20cm/ 4+/ 3+/ 5+ Weapon/ Range/ Firepower/ Notes Cluster Spines/ (15cm)/ smalll arms/ none Large Slashing Claws/ B-B/ CC Macro-Weapon TK/ +3 Attacks Barbed Hooks/ 15cm/ AP3+ AT5+/ Ignore Cover Notes: Unchanged from standard Hierodule in v7.1 versus: Scythed Hierodule Type /Speed /Armour /Close Combat /Firefight WE /20cm /4+ /3+ /5+ Weapons /Range /Firepower /Notes - Acid Spray 15cm AP 2+/AT 6+ / Ignore Cover - 2x Bio-Titan Talons (base contact) (assault weapons) /Macro-Weapon, Titan Killer (1), Extra Attack (+1) Notes: DC-3, Reinforced Armour, Walker, Brood (6) Barbed Hierodule Type /Speed /Armour /Close Combat /Firefight WE /20cm /4+ /4+ /4+ Weapons /Range /Firepower /Notes - Twin-Linked Bio-Cannon 45cm 2x AP 2+/AT 3+ /Ignore Cover Notes: DC-3, Reinforced Armour, Walker, Brood (6) Again, WYSIWYG and the 40k rules were the guide for the template of the weapons. All of these stats are as close to reflecting the 40k stats/abilities as we could reasonably concieve. The Trygon: Jaldon's: Trygon Type/ Speed/ Armor/ CC/ FF WE/ 15cm/ 4+/ 5+/ 3+ Weapon/ Range/ Firepower/ Notes Acid Cysts/ (15cm)/ small arms/ +2 FF Attacks Elctro-Shock Wave/ 15cm/ 2x AP3+ AT5+/ Ignore Cover +2 FF Attacks Notes: Unchanged from v7.1 This just ain't a Trygon, sorry. ![]() Our interpretation of the 40k rules was: Trygon Type /Speed /Armour /Close Combat /Firefight WE /15cm /3+ /3+ /5+ Weapons /Range /Firepower /Notes - Bio-Electric Field 20cm d3x AP 3+/AT 6+ /Ignore Cover - 2x Piercing Talons (base contact) (assault weapons) /Macro-Weapon, Extra Attack (+1) Notes: DC-3, Invulnerable Save, Infiltrator, Walker, Brood (6) Bio-Electric field was at d3 because it's d6 infantry-killing shots in 40k. It also gets a characterful invulnerable save in 40k. As for Infiltrate, this was the best compromise we could achieve to represent it tunneling, emerging unexpectedly right amongst the enemy (It is the only unit in 40k that can Deep Strike directly into base-to-base contact with the enemy and not be destroyed in the process!). E&C's final thoughts: - Hena seems to have some good thoughts about the Vituraptor, Malefactor & Haruspex. - E&C is sorry for being rude. ![]() |

HI! I've never played with the new rules proposed, but I played a lot with ( in fact against) Jaldon's list. I'm not sure about the changes but what I like is : - FF reduction ( it feels more nid ) - MW template : a bit too much on a hierophant! By the way, welcome back! |

Hena: Kiiinda. I'd rather that we return to the old Background where the Dominatrix is a different creature to the largest Bio-Titan (Now known as the Hydraphant). That piece of retconning only happened because we were going to get a new Hydraphant/Dominatrix model... now we're not, I don't see why we're keeping the stats/weapons identical on a model (Dominatrix) that is not modular, nor armed the same in the 7.1 list. |

I'm no great background worshipper myself but the issue with the Dom/Hydra debate hinges (for me) on whether we get any new models or not. If not then the majority of current and importantly future nid players will have to make do with the old models for both which, as E&C points out, are very different in appearance. If my vote counts for anything I would like to see them have different stats. Lightbringer ![]() |
