Have anyone ever taken a "Nexus Group" as a Synapse choise?

Nexus Group: 1 Hive Tyrant unit and 2 Tyranid Warrior units 200 points (Spawning rate, 1d3+2)

To me, it just doesn't seem worth 200 point, ie, adding a 100 point Hive Tyrant and two 50 point Tyranid Warriors together.  It's now vulnerable to AP and AT fire, and cost *more* than 3 Warriors.  Yes, you get a +1 bump on spawning over a Tyrant, but it still doesn't seem worth it.

In may seem a small change, but I really think it ought to be 175 point so be a competitive choice.

Thoughts?

I used it in my second dominatrix test game he other night

It contained
1 tyrant and two warriors (what a surprise!)
13 termigaunts
11 hormagaunts
6 raveners
3 screamer killers
2 venomfex
3 haruspex

I worked on the principle that a mixture of AV and Inf synpase works well with a mixed swarm  Since if I ran it with just a tyrant or just warriors a canny oppoent might concentrate on a single type of fire (ie just AP) so that they can easily remove the AV bugs by wacking their synpase.

That and I had some spare points.

*laugh* ?I think this sums it up in a single line.

For 50 more points you could've had *two* swarms using those Brood creatures, and avoided the "mixing" if you wanted to.

I normally run pure swarms.  Brood creatures led by warriors and uncommom BC lead by tyrants (except when I use my flyrant).  Such a setup reduces the effectiveness of some units, like LR MBTs.  However the mixing can cause the opponent some head aches as they are forced to choose between shooting the weaker brood creature and see most of them spawn back, or try to take down the bigger stuff and hope it doesn't come back.

If you want to field Zoanthropes, you have LVs.  You pretty much have to have a mixed swarm unless you want them to be snipe-able.

I also have a theory about including Biovores in normal swarms to make sure they can place BMs but haven't had a chance to do so.

Hena:  It would be for assault prep.  It's not going to kill things, just place BMs to get the resolution bonus.  With some Termagants and a couple shooty Carnifex it should make a good formation for standard move/shoot/support tactics.  If you're in range and position to do that, you don't need the extra 15cm movement.  If not, then move like you normally would.

Then again, Zoanthropes are probably just as good or better as a choice for that...

Yes, but trust me that 15cm is very important. My AV swarms tend to be hurt a lot by that missing 15cm.

Garrison, garrison, garrison!  *laugh*

Wont leave my haruspexes and malefactors behind :D.

You can place 1 in each 15cm move swarm and still garrison... then spawn some more back later!

I do that all the time, works quite well.
