Here's what I have come up with for a 3k army list. Comments would be very much appreciated.

The theory is to have big broods to soak up the  punishment and spawn back extra with mycetic spores.

#1 Assault Group +
Hormagaunts(10), Raveners(6), Mycetic Spore(1)

#1 Assault group is a mix of Infiltrating units for that long range engagement with the gaunts taking the hits and the raveners forming the shock element.


#2 Assault Group +
Hormagaunts(10), Mycetic Spore(1)
Probably the weakest group due to no saves

#3 Assault Group +
Termagants(20), Mycetic Spore(1)

Figured these guys would soak up hits while rushing forward to assault with FF using the "roll enough dice and you should hit a lot" theory of assault :D

"armoured" Attack Group +
Haruspex(6), Exocrine(3), Zoanthrope(1), Mycetic Spore(1)
The "armoured" BTS group has good RA to take a pounding and enough numbers to keep the HT alive as best as possible. It would attempt to deal with opposing armoured formations.

Lictor(5) - These guys can be swapped for a Hydraphant as I still have 150 to spend too....

Remember, BTS is based on synapse death for Nids, not largest formation. Or at least it was last time I checked. So you may want to consider how many/what kind of Synapse you take.

Personally, I'd get as many Raveners as you can!  They are worth more than 2 'Gaunts on the battlefield with their 4+ saves!

When you engage with 'Guants, you're going to lose a lot of them and, most likely, it's going to tip the resolution in favour of the opponent.  They also get shot to pieces on the way there.  Raveners, fast, effective, and survive on a 4+!

Honestly, the more I play with the current list, the less use I have for large numbers of 'Guants.  I take some to fill out the list, but my focus is on Raveners and, to a lesser extent, Gargoyles.

Hena- yeah I'm pretty sure I'm ok with points spreads there. over 800 for common broods in there right now. Oh and the (3) is unit numbers

Chroma - yeah I'm limited for raveners at the moment. I'm making in-roads to get more though :D

I use three rippers on a 2p peice.  Though using rippers make the raveners look like they are no steroids and are larger than warriors.

Yep, I'm using rippers on square epic bases, but I can get use to them being too big seeing as there isn't a model out there. I can just say that the Raveners from my Hive Swarm are a macro-strain - At least they look like they have 4+ armour :D

Hena - that's a typo. should be attack(1) it's because I cut and pasted from my first list and ditched one of the Assault groups

ps- Chroma, I'm up to 8 stands now looking to get more too ?:D

Also, if anyone hates the old Hive Trant model try using ripper heads. They actually look good. chop off the old "skull" style head/face and you can stick a ripper head there on the end of the neck bit. Gives the old HT a face lift(excusing the pun) to the new style of Nids

Winged tyrant with ripper head.

I used FW rippers for mine but I'm sure that GW rippers work in the same way.
