Using the latest iterations of the lists in the AV & WE 'nid update threads, I played a test game against a Marine opponent.
My list featured:
- 1 Haruspex (spawned) - 2 Barbed Hierodules - Exocrines (Some spawned, some started on the field) - 2 Harridans - 1 Dominatrix - 1 Hierophant with 2 bio cannons
- The usual mix of lictors, genestealers & minor broods.
My opponent's list featured:
- A Warlord Titan. - Three devestator formations, one with land raiders. - A terminator formation with chaplain. - A Supreme Commander in a tactical platoon. - A Whirlwind formation.
& probably some other forgotten stuff.
It was a good match, my opponent being an experienced player, but with little experience against the Tyranid list.
By the end of the game, I'd lost all my synapse bar my Dominatrix, lording it over the centre of the board!
I claimed a 2-1 win at the end (They shall not pass, BTS vs BTS).
And now the thoughts:
Haruspex, using Jaldon's suggested FF config for it, it seemed to work fine.
Barbed Hierodules; Work as expected IMO.
Exocrines; The bio cannon stats seem to be pretty good now... they're very useful but it's prohibitively expensive to invest in a bio cannon horde.
Harridans; TK(1) may be justified on its +2 attacks, though they by no means underperformed.
Dominatrix; Fielded at 400 points with the new weapons, she didn't seem so much of a liability as she did at 500 points. She ate a Marine Chaplain in the last Engagement of the game.
Hierophant with 2 bio cannons, quite a few times during the game I wished that I'd taken the huge claws or tentacles options rather than the bio cannons, but its impressive Firefight eventually helped win the day against the Warlord Titan (Some first-strike Genestealers finally killing it in the third Engagement action the Warlord had been involved in).
Overall, I'm much happier with the feel of the modified list than I am with the 7.1 list, the changes have added more variety & flavour without over-complicating the list (In some cases even simplifying it).
