It was never released because at the time there was no supporting SG range.

It's like a little pet or mascot sat there on the desk! :D

Good find, now where are the battle reports from your and Chris's games?  (Was you wasn't it?)

I could try lightening them myself, but my photosuite is rather antiquated. It tends to make everything bright yellow when I lighten things?? ???

Anyways, I had a really lame ulterior motive in posting this, in that I still disagree with the Bio-Titans in the 7.1 list having stats & abilities that do not mesh with the models which will eventually be released / the abilities of the 40k versions of the models (Which the rules should probably be based on really?).

So yeah, the Epic scale FW tyranid Bio-Titans I mentioned previously do exist.  :)

Well, that's as good a reason as any to base model stats on. Junka trucks got big shootas because the sculptor put them on the model. I believe some of the Eldar EoVs got extra weapons for the same reason. And those are just the most recent examples.

The problem is that now, we have no information about what the models are/will be armed with. FW doesn't tell us, and there's no one in GW to act as an inbetween anymore. Of course, there's always room for weapon varients (its not like FW is saying that Hierodules only ever come as shown, just that this specific one does).

The models will be armed with the same weapons as the 40k variants.

The 'big four':

Scythed Hierodule, Barbed Hierodule, Hierophant, Harridan.

Somewhere around I also have an early WIP picture of an Epic Trygon.

I'd keep them mostly the same. Drop the breath weapon. Give them 0-2 Massive Claws and 0-2 Bio-Cannons. Bio Cannons being 2x MW 4+ attacks (or something similar). Massive Claws are EA +2, TK(D3) weapons.

Basically my beefs were with the 5 models we're to get from FW***.

In brief, this is what the models are armed with:

- The Scythed Hierodule   (Has 2x massive claws & FF range acid attack)
- The Barbed Hierodule     (Has twin-linked Bio Cannon & massive claws)
- The Hierophant             (Has two Bio Cannons, 2x massive claws & lash whips)
- The Harridan                (Has twin-linked Bio Cannon & massive claws)
- The Trygon                  (2x Massive claws, bio-shock attack, emerges onto the battlefield by tunneling (teleport?), allows some spawn types to enter play via its tunnel as it appears)

In several cases, the 7.1 rules are very different.

- Breath weapons shouldn't be there for anything except the Hydraphant. All weapons and stats should match their 40k versions, because that is what the models will be based on, and that is the new cannon. Several of our old Assault Spawn/Titan models will be 'collector's' models.

Re: The Barbed Hierodule.

Just say that the Barbed 'dule evolved late in the subdual phase, after the last imperials had evacuated, thus no word of it reached imperial ears or something? Or change it from Hamman's World to Moran, the next world the Hamman's world fleet attacked and the first known sighting of the Barbed Hierodule... to write out one of our very few new models based on fluff is not good IMHO.

I think there were one or two other tweaks I proposed but I've written them all out once before... I'll repost the relevant details should this discussion go any further.

*** As long as the SG range is released of course.  :D

The Harridan has twin-linked bio-cannons, not just 2x bio-cannons. Not quite the same thing. Otherwise it looks OK. Not sure just how you'd go about doing all of it... Personally I thinkn the 'gigantic claws' schtick for the Bio-Titans probably could just be covered as part of their base stat-lines. Maybe give the Heirodules MW EA(+1)/EA(+2) dependent on type. And the Hierophant EA(+2), TK(1) or TK(D3) attacks? Given the really low cost of them right now I'd be worried about how good they'd be with 2x Bio Cannons AND EA (+2) TK(D3) or the like. Might have tos cale up the price a bit. Depends on the stats on the Bio-Cannons I suppose.

Well

Scythed hierodule. We have a pair of claws and acid attack on it. So it might not be exactly FW 40k stats, but from models point of view it's same.

The Scythed Hierodule is probably the closest to its originator in stats. I'd debate about making the Acid spray FF just to entirely eliminate the ranged attack (There are a LOT of MW ranged attacks in this list...) :D

Harridan. We have a pair of bio cannons and a pair of claws. Again the same. Also we have breath weapon, but as long as the model has a mouth it is of no consequence.

The Harridan has been given a 'Spore Cannon' template weapon, this does not exist on the new model.

Trygon. Again we have some claws and bio shock. Granted bio shock is different and there is no tunneling (which we did earlier have a arguments for and against). But that again doesn't matter to the model. Main thing about tunneling was that the nids are not to have any transports (which this would have to be), as the synapse creatures was needed for that beast anyway.

Tunneling is the main feature of the Trygons, literally its its most distinctive trait... it's a mama Ravener! It lacks character to leave this out IMHO.

Then we have the two problematic ones. Barbed hierodule and hydraphant.

Barbed Hierodule shouldn't be left out.

Hydraphant can have all the options available to the old models, since FW will most likely not be replacing it.

Lastly, the Hierophant's stats are very different to the model's abilities in 40k. It completely lacks the two Bio-Cannons, and instead has a 'Bio-Plasmic Breath Weapon Attack'... Lash whips I can give or take being represented at Epic scale, it's main ranged weapon being completely different however...
