Well, yes it could carry 8. But it's kinda unlikely it will. The only reason I could see for carrying any at all would be if you had lumped them into a formation (which you won't see any more) or if the Vituperaptor has no swarm around it, and can act as a War Engine Transport. In which case it'd most likely be carrying the Tyrant and it's swarm. Which is likewise unlikely since it can't carry carnifexes or any of the other AV Bugs. I'd say just remove the Hive Tyrant from it's transport ability altogether.

If you want to limit them to two or three or four fine, that I do not care either way. But I would not make then take two spaces. This limits others as well and does not fit the overall feel that they have had to date.

Just my .02, of course I could be wrong. :p

I have an idea of list with vituperator + 3 or 4 hive tyrants and 8 or 10 mycetics. Then march the vituperator to other end in first turn and drop off the tyrants. Then use the spawning to create some carnifex swarms. Average rolls of 3d3+2 should give nice 8, which means 2 cernifexes or some smaller gits or 2 haruspexes. Then combine those 8 (as there is 4 synapses or 5 which means 10) into one swarm (or two) and send the tyrant (or two) to assault. Others spawns second swarm and off they go.

That's a lot of eggs in one basket...  and you'd have to be playing a lot of points to make that worthwhile, cuz you'd have little Synapse left elsewhere in 3000 points.

Overwatch fire, barrages (particularly Ork MW barrages) would make short work of that grouping of Synapse, I'm afraid.

As well, if the enemy moves even one unit within 30cm, you're only getting 2d3+x on a 3+ Rally roll...  doesn't seem worth it to me.

I think it would be gutted with relative ease.  It's 750 points of small SCs rolled into a single activation and 300+ points you would have to keep off board on Turn 1.  Even at 4000-5000 points you will have a noticable lack of activations and general on-board weakness.

The enemy would simply stall until the tyrants deployed, then rush them while they had no swarms to protect.

Plus, a formation fo Deathstrikes or a Space Marine air assault could kill it before it activated at all.
