So I got to thinking about the Tyranid list and the flexibility (not to mention rediculously sillyness) of some of the things you could do with it... I've always had a real love of the 'Godzilla' army list. Lots of huge, stompy, impractically large biological constructs running all over the board beating people senseless? Sounds like fun to me! Anyway I was considering trying to collect/assemble an army list something like this:

Synapse Creatures:
6x Hive Tyrant (600)
Total: 600

Common Brood Creatures:
21x Raveners (630)
3x Termagaunt (45)
Total: 675

Independent Swarms:
1x Hierophant (250)
1x Hierophant (250)
1x Heirophant (250)
Total: 750

Uncommon Brood Creatures:
12x Carnifex 'A' (420)
6x Carnifex 'B' (210)
3x Mycetic Spores (15)
Total: 645

That's a 2700 point army list for those of you who don't like math.    I'd love any advice/input people could give me on this design. Mostly I just love the idea of lots of big bugs running around. The idea is to divide up the Hive Tyrants into 3 units of 2 each, give each one 4 Carnifex and 2 Venomfex. Have them Garrison on the 'speed' rule. Then spawn the Raveners/Termagaunts onto the field. Each Hive Tyrant group has a minimum of 10 points worth of spawning after all. Lemme know what you think.

Well... In theory at least each swarm which manages to spawn (assuming that it still has both Hive Tyrants in it) will have at least 10 spawning points, and potentially as many as 14 without using Mycetic Spores. This gives 3 Carnifexes, or 2 Carnifexes and 2 Raveners... Or, well, you get the idea. I might swap out some of the Raveners for Termagants. It's just too bad the Raveners aren't LVs any more, you can't use them to shield your Tyrants and Carnifexes from enemy AT weapons any more... As far as durability, it's probably a little lite. It's also possible to split up the tyrants more, break them into 6 formations instead of 3, give each one 3 Carnifexes, 3 of them get 4 Raveners and 3 get 3 Raveners and 1 Termagaunt... I've considered swapping the Raveners into Termagants, the only issue I have with it is that the enemy's gonna go through them like tissue paper (Not that that's a huge issue most of the time, since AP weapons still won't hurt my synapse creatures).

Though the godzilla army loks fun, it just doesn't have the punch of a balanced army.  You are also risking your synpase creatures.  even with 6 body shields every 7th and 8th AT hit is going to be aginast a synapse creature.  Also the swarms will fall to MW attacks since tyrants and carnies only have a 3+ save.

Try to cut down the number of bio blitz brigades to 2, each with a single tyrant.  this gives you about 8ish carbnies to absorb shots.

Next swap out some tyrnats for warriors to lead masive common brood formations.  It can distract the enemy from the BBBs.

Also since your BBB swarms will be smallish try to get some dactylis into the mix to lay some disrupt BM on the enemy.

A favourite artillery swarm of mine is tyrant, 2 cactylis 4 exocrines and 2 hauspex Bs. it is a whooping 650pts but lays BM and kills units very well. and it still fits the godzilla form. (mmm big bugs)

I had actually considered something similar to what you suggested Ragnarok... Originally I had pondered an army a bit more like this:

Synapse Creatures:
2x Hive Tyrant (200)
2x Tyranid Warrior Brood (300)
1x Greater Synapse Node (75)
Total: 575

Common Brood Creatures:
17x Raveners (510)
11x Termagaunt (165)
Total: 675

Independent Swarms:
1x Hierophant (250)
1x Hierophant (250)
1x Heirophant (250)
Total: 750

Uncommon Brood Creatures:
8x Carnifex 'A' (280)
4x Carnifex 'B' (140)
3x Exocrine 'A' (225)
1x Biovore (25)
Total: 670

I like the idea of a couple of Exocrines lead by a Greater Synapse Node hanging back near my lines to bombard the enemy before I assault them. I like the Exocrines the trouble I've had is finding the points for them. I'm sure it'd be a fairly silly army and lose a lot more often then it wins, but I love the idea of big stompy bugs. I had at one point also drafted an army based almost entirely around Heirodules... 9 Heirodules, 1 Dominatrix and 2 Hive tyrants, IIRC. Mostly as a joke really.
