Hiya everyone I am new to the nids having played eldar in 40K and epic for many years. Having recently amassed a new bug force I am looking to take them to battle for the first time in the coming weeks. I have been following the WIP list(s) with interest but have to confess that there are a couple of things which from a newcomers perspective do not come across clearly. I thought it might be useful for me to share these observations at this stage both for my own benefit and that of other newcomers. First off is the wording of the section on synapse groups (T1.30) . The first sentence reads as follows; "Every swarm is controlled by a Synapse Group......" this is not strictly true and should be changed to ""Every brood swarm is controlled by a Synapse Group......" The next bit that is still not fully clear to a noob is the statement; "..made up of from one to three selections from the synapse creature list." Inserting an example at this point would be helpful, something like; "..for example a synapse group could consist of one harridan and two hive tyrants) I also feel that the issue of coherency is a little fuzzy - the list states that the synapse groups are made up first and then the broods are added. Does this mean that each synapse group has to remain within coherency of the other synapse creatures in its group or - once the swarm moves the synapse creatures can move out of coherency from each other as long as they are within range of their broods? The final thing I think would be helpful to a noob is to add an appendix to the WIP list stating what figures should be used for what. For instance I note that people recommend using the GW Hierophant as a Hydraphant, the GW Hierodule as a Hierophant - but what to use for a Hierodule - or a ravener for that matter? I know this is a small thing but for somebody with no history of bugs its a tad messy. Anyhoo - hope this is of some use and keep up the good work! Can't wait to see my bugs chomp some Imperial armour!! Cheers Lightbringer ![]() |

Thanks for the welcome and responses! I think what we've come to here is the conclusion that a few examples within the text would really help newcomers., Jaldon, although I take your point .... "Like the GT rules on deployment, if you only read the 1st paragraph of 6.1.6 you would think any formations could be placed off table in reserve. But taken in its entirety it quickly becomes obvious it isn't." ... as I have posted elsewhere, 6.1.6 was misinterpreted recently at a weekend of battles I was at. It strikes me that if you can remove the possibility of misinterpretation by a small edit then its probably worth doing so. I'll post again if I have any more random thoughts! Thanks again Lightbringer ![]() |
