With all the talk on harridans and aircraft I have been thinking alot about incorperating Harridans, and to a lesser extent Vituperators, in my swarm (well I've got 8 or so 40k gargoyles doing nothing).
Onething I've noticed is that our massive 30+ meter long birds are all flying Nap of Earth. This seems wrong to me, so why don't we use the yau support craft special rule for them,
Special rule Support craft remain high up in the air, this means they can always draw a line of fire to any target and vice versa, like aircraft. They also never block LOF to other units, including other support craft. They ignore terrain when moving and never count as being in cover, nor can they provide cover for friendly troops, as they are too far away from the ground. They can only deploy troops except gargoyles imediately after they have performed a planetfall. In an assault, they work exactly like skimmers.

Only one problem: I think most of the Tau players wound up hating that rule and I believe it's being scrapped... *laugh*
Mostly boiled down to with is "flying high" the enemy always has a target and can use it got direct fire barrages or shooting when there's nothing else around, etc, etc.
I'm still not sure what to do about these two units... what are their write ups in Update 2005 like?

Well it is only the harridan in the update I've got ('02).
The fluff states that they circle high above the battlefield before swooping in on attack runs.
I agree that the flying high rule does need some tweaks. I don't get how leman russ MBTs battle cannons and las cannons canelevate high enough to shoot them.
Posssible say only AA weapons can hit them but they get more shots due the the crafts low speed

6 Harridans each with 4 raveners and 9 gargoyles exactly 2K7pt.
Not sure how well it will do, but it is a perfect first wave assault.

I think I have enough stands to proxie 54 gargoyles and 24 raveners (if only I had enough not to proxie, though if ravers stay as LVs I can remount them 1 per base and have 24 of them).
Now where did I put that prey-thing?
