Quote (Hena @ 02 Dec. 2005 (19:37)) | My friend decided that the section 6 of the Epic Rules need a thorough re-read. The beginning of it anyway. | Bwahaha! No wonder
Interesting report. Pylon seemed seriously weak but then again IIRC that things gun isn't exactly suited for army like yours.
Orb seemed nasty enough. I have always thought out of all warmachines in necron list that's the most potent one.
Thanks for the pics btw. Seeing how well those paper clips worked tempted me to do those myself for some necron games.

I think that if we are going to limit certain creatures from holding objectives then it should be done by class rather than individually. So far we have
Can't Common and uncommon brood
contest only Lictor
Can synapse, genestealers, hydraphants, hierophants and expecptors
Moving stealers to the can't list will confuse thinks. At the moment it is (basically) synapse and independant who can hold objectives. Lictors are the exception, but they have soo many special rules (no problem there) that you need their data sheet handy and wont forget that they can only contest objectives.
If we were to move anything to the can't list then I would say a bulk move of the independants (with the execption of lictors) to keep it simple.
However this will place a big burden on the synapse creature (possible points reduction tocompensate?).
Well enough rambling, good battle report. Any strength or weakness about the crons I might need to know? I'm facing them on thursday (or Ulthwe)

Thanks for the report Hena! I take it those unpainted lictors are your ravener proxies?

Quote (Hena @ 02 Dec. 2005 (21:29)) | Hmm... If indepedents where in the contest category, there would be quite few formations to hold 6 objectives... It just is that unbreakable units are quite good (too good really) at holding on to a place. | Sounds like a fun fight! Life vs Death and all that; Necrons are the only force that hasn't shown up in my gaming group yet and they seem potentially quite nasty to face.
I'm not sure what issues you're having with Genestealers taking objectives? They're not fearless, so skimmers/FF can clean them off an objective with combat resolution as they'll be getting no hits against the enemy. I've rarely had Genestealers survive a whole game, so they've never been a problem.

Quote (Markconz @ 03 Dec. 2005 (01:06)) | Remember you can still win combat versus skimmers even with lictors and genestealers. ?I've done it a few times. You start at +2 if the skimmers have blast markers, plus maybe outnumbering, plus most skimemr units aren't exactly going to tear you up - eg eldar jetbikes = 3 hits, so maybe 2 dead bugs. So roughly a 50/50 chance the combat will go either way. ?It's a bit wierd - skimmers losing must be a morale failure or something | My 'Stealers and Lictors mainly fear the dreaded "6cm Firefight"... that's how they usually die... either that or barrages... *laugh*
