I've updated the WIP list to include the agility ability in the Tyranid Xenobiology section. List can be found here: http://home.cogeco.ca/~kpetker/ Current units with agility: Hive Tryant Hierophant Lictor Ravener Hierodule The other LVs have been left with walker as I don't think they are as manueverable as the above creatures. ?Speaking of which, should Zoanthropes have skimmer instead? Didn't add the bio-cannon to the Dom or Hydraphant as this is still up in the air: should it be just a normal bio-cannon 2 x MW5+? Added 1DC to the Barbed Hierodule, removed one set of bio-cannon attacks. Other than that, it was just editting and proof-reading... I'm sure I missed things, so please turn your enhanced sense on it and let me know what you think! |

Stupid Sam didn't notice that the 'vores and 'Thropes have been LVs for a while ? ![]() ![]() Raveners I can live with as LVs, they are a group of large snakes. ?However I don't think that 'vores and 'thropes should fall in that catorgory. ?I'm not sure about anyone else but my thropes are mounted one per base (as will my 'vores when I get some). ?And I can't see them as being so big as being justified as being LVs. ?'Vores arn't that much bigger than single terminators (being litealy organic close fire support) and though 'thropes are quite tall they are also wraith thin so will be hard to hit. The main problem I see for them is that they wont be used in large quantities inside a brood, thus can be sniped at using a few AT shots. For example an Armoured company opening up on a brood (okay this will hurt anyway) will unload 10 battle cannons and twenty heavy bolter shots at all my loverly gaunts and and fry the supporting 2 'thropes with 10 lascannon shots! Sure those 30 AP shots will scyth though my 20 gaunts and three warriors (gone are the days of the ravener bullet shield ? ![]() The renaming of uncommon brood Inf as LV means a total rethink of brood formation since they now need to be protected by the more expensive LV raneners, compared to a mass of termigaunts. |

Well, the S-K has 3 attacks, with one being MW, while the Haruspex just has 2 regular attacks. The S-K is fearless where the Haru isn't, while the Haru has better move and a MW shooting attack. They seem comparable to me. Does the S-K need another MW attack to make it worthwhile? |

I would say so. Carnifexes have one tiny little problem against them...Move 15cm. As it is I would take haruspex just to ensure I get to attack back if(when) opponent engages swarm in fire fight. Having units who can't fight back is no good then. Myself I'm always extremely vary of any slow CC monsters. Even more if they can't even fight back. (then again I would propably go out for venomfex out of these 3 instead). Though just my feelings. But with my orks I rarely get a chance to actually USE my 4+ CC with boyz(and when I do it's on opponents terms to begin with too often) so this might give slight bias to my view. |

Well, one thing I've discovered for getting Carnies into CC is that they are fearless. ?So, even if they lose the engagement, they move *closer* to the enemy, while a Haruspex will be killed in combat resolution. ?I'd been moving my broods back at times, but, really, the Carnies and Hive Tyrant (or Warriors) are all fearless so they can just keep advancing on the enemy. If the enemy initiated a firefight against them, well, they're gonna get hammered on the counter-attack next activation. ?If 'Nids were the ones who attacked, well, they're really set up for next turn! ?As they are unbroken, they can even be used to support another swarms attack against the same enemy unit! The non-breaking of Tyranids is an ability with all kinds of tactical applications. |

I agree that the SK should go back to 2xCC MW attacks and should have FF-. However I'm willing to exchange the secind MW attack for a FF of 5(6)+, if the name is changed to close assault variant. Not as cool as screamer killer, nut it allows the SC to be in the collectors section with 2 CC MW attacks. |

How do these look? ?I still think the "core" options should be Screamer-Killer and Venomspitter as the archtypal Carnifex variants. Carnifex (CF) Choose one option: Screamer-Killer (CFS) Option: Type Speed ?Armour ?CC ?FF AV ? 15cm ? 4+ ? ? ?3+ ?- Weapons ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? Range ? ? ? ?Firepower ? Walker or: Venomspitter (CFV) Option: Type Speed ?Armour ?CC ?FF AV ? 15cm ? 4+ ? ? ?4+ ?5+ Weapons ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? Range ? ? ? ?Firepower ? Notes Spore Cysts ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? (15cm) ? ? ? SM ? ? ? ? ? +1A 2 x Venom Cannon ? ? ? ? ? ? ?30cm ? ? ? ? AP5+/AT6+ Notes: Brood Creature. Fearless. Reinforced Armour. Walker. Other Carnifex options: Thornback Option: Type Speed ?Armour ?CC ?FF AV ? 15cm ? 4+ ? ? ?5+ ?3+ Weapons ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? Range ? ? ? ?Firepower ? Notes Devourer ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?(15cm) ? ? ? Shovel-tusker Option: Type Speed ?Armour ?CC ?FF AV ? 15cm ? 3+ ? ? ?4+ ?- Weapons ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? Range ? ? ? ?Firepower ? Notes Crushing Claws ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?(BC) ? ? ? ? AW ? ? ? ? ?+1A, TK (1) Scything Talons ? ? ? ? ? ? ? (BC) ? ? ? ? AW ? ? ? ? ?+1A Notes: Brood Creature. Fearless. Reinforced Armour. Thick Rear Armour. Walker. Bile-beast Option: Type Speed ?Armour ?CC ?FF AV ? 15cm ? 4+ ? ? ?4+ ?4+ Weapons ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? Range ? ? ? ?Firepower ? Notes Deathspitters ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? (15cm) ? ? ? This is just doing up the Carnifex variants found in the new Tyranid Codex, which, I suppose, should be taken as the "common" variants. ?Obviously there are a ridiculous number of variations that can be produced in total, but this seems to cover most of the basics. |
